Maybe she should have applied to Yale instead? That's a lot of unique accolades and firepower and effort just to go to a tiny LAC. I think she could have gone to an Ivy league school with a larger and more impressive alum pool. |
Maybe she likes warm weather. Great people do great things no matter where they go to college. |
That’s funny. My daughter really dislikes Yale and would not have wanted to attend at all. If prestige were her primary concern, she’d have gone to Princeton. She didn’t choose Pomona and then begin doing all this; she achieved a ton and then realized Pomona was the school for her. Now, no more lectures. |

Ah DCUM, always advising lac interested students to schools that they do not care about nor want.
I remember this forum telling me my son made a “massive” mistake for choosing amherst over Dartmouth. He loved his college and got a prestigious fellowship that lead to a job, now making bank in London. |
| Congrats all! |
Yale? What a random suggestion. The Ivy most similar to Pomona is brown. Someone interested in Yale wouldn’t be looking at Pomona- completely different energies. |
Maybe she wanted to have professors who are dedicated to teaching and not research. |
What a silly comment. Get a clue, PP. |
Wrong thread? I can’t imagine that someone went on an LAC celebratory thread just to tell someone to apply to a college opposite of their dream- ED- school. |
You must be a fun person. Wait until you hear that all these “lesser” students going to Pomona pull elite grad school acceptances. |
| I chose a SLAC over Princeton 30 years ago and never looked back. |
| West coast, well known private school. Ed acceptance to Williams. 3.8, high rigor, biggest ec was starting a certain cultural dance club at his high school that raised thousands and got awards for it. |
Congrats! My DC at Pomona and loves it-the 5C’s are a special place with super smart yet humble kids who don’t need to have the Ivy name to boost their self image. Your child sounds like a perfect fit! Go Sagehens! |
This is a stupid post. |
| Congratulations! This process is so opaque and stressful. Now hopefully these kids can sit back and relax a bit. And for the others still waiting - it will be ok but I know it’s so hard when we’re start talking about acceptances. |
