I already submitted the referral form. I can’t believe the in pool letters still haven’t come out yet. Not even the cogat.

The in pool email did not come out until the referral due date last year.

What is taking so long???

I read that last year’s cogat had a glitch so the late notice makes sense. There was no such glitch this year. Kids took the cogat 2 months ago.

Maybe today or next week? (They only committed to before winter break.) It's not based on when the children took the test; it's based on when FCPS decides to tell parents. The strategy of holding off as long as possible works better for school administrators because they don't have to deal with parents before winter break. The CogAT scores are surely ready to go (and probably were almost 2 months ago). Parents don't want to rock the boat while they have kids in the pipeline, and so it goes.

I understand the letters may take time to send because each school is calculated separately. How about just he cogat score?!?!?

Even college kids are getting their admissions letters faster than in pool letters.

I say this with kindness (and as someone who contributes themselves), but the mere existence of this forum and the nature of some of the questions and responses are exactly why they wait until the phone lines are off and out of office messages are on

Agreed! And it was a really early Winter break last year (the 15th was the last day of school) so it all coincided. We were told to not expect them before referrals were due. I’m starting to think we’ll get NNAT results next week.

Precisely my thought. You want to know why they delay - look in the mirror! (And I, too, include myself in that to some extent 😂)

The process is flawed. Requiring parents to submit referrals before providing all the important data pieces is precisely what creates these post on this forum.
Also those who have questions will still call and email regardless of whether out-off-office is on. Staff will still need to respond once they’re back.
Their inefficient process just creates frustration for parents.

I don’t show this in real life. I would not reach out to school about my child’s Cogat score if child does not make the pool. If we got this information in a timely manner, we would not be wondering and would not be posting about this online.

Exactly. What would parents call/email about? Nothing can be changed. Now AAP program rejections i can understand, I'm sure there's lots to talk about when that happens.

To be fair, the central committee did have to meet to look over the fall submissions this month. Not sure how many staff that takes, but I imagine central office has to be involved so they have been busy, and not with nothing.

Yes, I can understand calls after actual rejections. Not sure what the point is for holding cogat scores. We don’t even need the percentiles, just the score.

What fall submissions?

How many people are in this central committee? Isn’t the central committee a bunch of teachers who evaluate AAP? I thought they were existing teachers.

It's the witching hour; if the letters were coming today, some parents would have the emails by now.
