+10000 this is so tragic. What’s even more tragic is that the mom felt trapped in her life and had nobody supporting her or checking on her.
We don't know this. These things can take a turn very quickly. Someone can be fine the night before, and experience psychosis the next morning. It is possible her family was doing everything they could or that it wasn't obvious to her or her family. Postpartum mental health issues like this are incredibly complex and tragic. Not to mention our systems are not well set up. I am absolutely wrecked for her husband, child, and her. In most of these situations this is a parent who would never, ever, ever harm their child. Their sense of reality has left and they think that killing everyone is somehow saving them. I know it is hard to understand. But these aren't weirdly evil deep down mothers. They are mothers whose brains have been hijacked by very rare but extremely serious and tragic mental health issues.
