She woke up that morning and wanted to kill her family. That's premeditated.

And clearly the mother was very very ill. I hope this is a reminder to people to check in on friends, family and neighbors. Women are not okay and this should be an alarm bell to this entire listserv.

+10000 this is so tragic. What’s even more tragic is that the mom felt trapped in her life and had nobody supporting her or checking on her.

We don't know this. These things can take a turn very quickly. Someone can be fine the night before, and experience psychosis the next morning. It is possible her family was doing everything they could or that it wasn't obvious to her or her family. Postpartum mental health issues like this are incredibly complex and tragic. Not to mention our systems are not well set up. I am absolutely wrecked for her husband, child, and her. In most of these situations this is a parent who would never, ever, ever harm their child. Their sense of reality has left and they think that killing everyone is somehow saving them. I know it is hard to understand. But these aren't weirdly evil deep down mothers. They are mothers whose brains have been hijacked by very rare but extremely serious and tragic mental health issues.

Sorry pp I see you were also saying it was tragic so didn't need to convince you of that!

She woke up that morning and wanted to kill her family. That's premeditated.

Without any other motive, facts seem to lead in the direction of an acute psychosis triggered by post-partum depression.

This seems similar to the Lindsay Clancy case in Massachusetts, although I don't know if she was as obviously sick as Lindsay.

I forgot that one. So sad for preschooler, especially. RIP to the little one.

100000000000% hormones, stress, taking care of a crap ton of stuff, kids, appointments, the mental load of remembering EVERYTHING, lists, appointments. I feel like a lot of the time men work and that's where their mental load ends.

If you think and plan on murdering someone and then you go ahead and do it, that is the definition of premeditated. What are your qualifications?

This is what I wrote on the other thread before it was locked.

Another rich white lady in a multi million dollar home killing her 3rd baby. Cheapest house on the block is $1.4 and go up to the mid-upper 2's.

This has Lindsay Clancy vibes all over it except this lady only succeeded in killing one child instead of all three.

Maybe have fewer kids, ladies! And stay off Instagram!

These cases are beyond tragic. How are we not farther along in delivering appropriate postpartum care to mothers struggling with mental health?
