Why Dems Enjoy Doom Porn So Much?

I'm not OP but this country NEEDS Democrats to get it together and be a counterbalance to Republicans. I fear the Democrats leaders, strategists and donors operate in a bubble of arrogance and contempt for a large portion of Americans. Even looking at DCUM comments in the last few days, all you see is doubling down.

You got it. The GOP owns it now. You fix it.

Flake off, OP - and everyone agreeing with OP. You need some self-awareness.

“Flake off…” now there’s an expression I haven’t heard since middle school.

OMG! Trump is all about being a victim. How can you not see this? You're a victim of DEI, pronouns, trans people in sports, wokeism. On and on and on. You are the ultimate victim wannabes.

All the examples you list are not in any way about being a victim. Those are all examples of dumb inefficient constructs liberals have created to make themselves feel better. All again leading back to the core mental disease of needing to validate their existence.

Nope. You were victimized by those. Or you wouldn't have had an issue with them. Hell, it's your whole identity. And guess what, you won and are still miserable. Because deep down you know that making your whole movement about these issues was BS.

Who’s miserable, again?

THIS!!!!! I actually come here to read the unhinged comments which make me feel absolutely certain Trump was the right choice at this moment.

Get it together Dems! This nation needs two viable parties and you are imploding and degrading yourselves to a point where you won’t be able to return. FFS.

They will overexaggerate the risk, then when it fails to materialize they lose credibility. For example, we have been told that Trump is literally Hitler and a fascist. That he represents an existential threat to our republic...and this week Joe Biden announced that his administration is cooperating with a peaceful and smooth transition to the incoming Trump admin. For those keeping score, that means that Joe Biden is literally cooperating with handling over control of the executive branch to Hitler/Fascist. In what world does this make sense!?!?!?!?!? Who cooperates with Hitler/Fascist who is going to take down the country? It makes Biden look like a clown. Harris said there would be a peaceful handover of power (not to mention that at least of the two said they congratulated Trump on his victory).... Perhaps the core Democratic voter can square all of this. But many others cannot and it looks ridiculous. And I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Well, the Dem state level officials are already jockeying for 2028 positioning. How does one do that? Through fear. Newsom has already called a special legislative session complete with dramatic press event declaring his intention to protect Californians. NY AG James had a super serious, super stern and solemn press conference in front of an oversize official seal to declare she was already prepared to fight back against the Trump admin. And Pritzker is out there using dangerous, seditious language referring himself as a happy warrior and that the Trump admin will have to "come through" him to get to Illinois (apparently it took a senator from Illinois to save the union while a governor from Illinois is readying for civil war 2.0).

And the media is already doing is scare campaign. The NYT https://www.nytimes.com/video/opinion/100000009811484/trump-worst-case.htmlwhere its OpEd contributors are spliced together speculating about what the very worst version of Trump 2.0 will look like. We're already reading stories that are carefully worded to scare people while using sneaky language to imply the worst (see the union "body blow" thread).

I get it, I think. The core democratic constituency responds to this stuff. Perhaps it is even cathartic on some level. But why can't these people realize that to a certain percentage of the mostly middle section of voters this stuff comes off as ridiculous and unserious? And ultimately, when what Trump ends up of doing--while terrible and unacceptable--is not nearly as bad as what the prognosticators predicted, he ends up with a talking point about how he was unfairly accused of being terrible (instead of just sort of terrible). And, of course, a lot of people who voted for Trump will get their jollies from watching the dramatic overreactions (which many claim is the whole point of a Trump vote to begin with).

Sometimes the best way to project strength is to just be cool in the face of adversity. Someone should clue the Dems into this.

It wasn’t Democrats who said he was Hitler and a fascist.

The vice president-elect said he was “America’s Hitler.”

Trump’s former WH Chief of Staff said he is a fascist.

Maybe start with correct attribution. I realize it won’t help your premise, but …

And Kamala Harris pretty much called Joe Biden a racist to his face, but she changed her tune. People's opinions can change.

What he winds up doing isn't terrible at all. The part that is "terrible" is all the handwringing about crazy hypothetical scenarios that never come to pass. Millions and millions of Americans decisively sent a message the other day. We are sick of the gaslighting, exaggerations, hyperbole, and flat-out idiocy from the left. Please stop.

Tell that to the parents whose kids were locked in cages during Trump‘a first term.

The cages that were built by Obama?

Fine. Stop chattering and get to work. You’ve been anointed. We’re waiting for you to save us from our stupidity and arrogance.

This.
All these polemics! Democrats: reflect! Give up your doom porn! You’re hysterical! You’re condescending!

All of which basically boils down to: you’re not angry enough! I want to feel that I own you!

No. MAGA won. Now deliver and stop worrying about the Democratic Party.

How soon we forget 2022, when the “red wave” failed to materialize. Then, it was Democrats gleefully lecturing (well, as always) Republicans in exactly the same manner. Instructing us to “reflect” and engage in self-introspection. Remember that? Sure you do.

Shrug. This is what America wanted. Your job is now to hold trump accountable for what you voted for. Run along.

And you’ll keep losing which means we’ll keep winning. We have the world’s most powerful man Trump and the world’s richest man Musk in charge and they are cleaning house. It’s going to be so great, so many good things already happening, normies will vote red for decades. And the blue haired community activists will be unhinged and screaming at the sky wondering what went wrong!
Run along.

Pressure getting to you already? Yes. Only ten weeks. But are you too ignorant to realize you need to plan to hit the ground running on day 1. Clock is ticking. You got this! Deflation! Energy and grocery prices halved!!

Why do you all have such fake concern? Why aren't you out there celebrating your victories instead of trying to figure out what we are doing or thinking?
