Michelle Obama's powerful speech in Kalamazoo, MI

In my own immediate family is evenly split between men and women. And women are democrats and men are independent (formerly republican). And Michelle’s appeal is one that the women in our household is talking about. We have had discussions about miscarriages, medical care, and women’s health.

And it makes a difference. Because husbands, brothers, and fathers love their wives, sisters, and mothers. And they can see what is happening to people they love.

Women, you need to have the hard conversations with your brothers, husbands and fathers.

Excellent speech delivered with a powerful, intelligent voice…but I’m baffled by her blazer choice (distracting pattern in a depressing color).

Regardless, she’s preaching to the choir and her talking points fell short if the goal was to persuade undecided voters or persuade others to come back to our team…the team that isn’t crazy.

We need excellent speakers like the Obamas to call out the fringe lefty areas where we’ve seemingly gone too far and provide a more rational approach. We will lose this election thanks to immigration and the war in Israel/gaza/lebanon. Take back the narrative.

I think Kamala might be able to win Michigan. It was always a big gamble for the dems to do a racial "divide and conquer" strategy, which required them to abandon the Midwestern white working class labor union types. I think this election will show whether that's a viable strategy moving forward.

Haha….DNC racial divide and conquer?

Trump has campaigned almost exclusively on divide and conquer.

Just so much projection by GOP and MAGA. And some democrats have internalized the projection.

Democrats - don’t buy it. The con is up. And Trump is going down.

Like everything the Dems are saying in their desperation, they have it backwards. There is nothing that power hungry Black women fear more than Trump.

You know who will win this election? The person/party that shifts the narrative to take ownership of America and our American values in such a way that resonates with most voters.

Yeah, she clearly doesn’t know her place! How dare her succeed in life! Only people like Trump are allowed to be billionaires and live on lavish estates like mar al lago.

This. I asked my husband to watch her speech on youtube after it left me crying. He said it moved the needle. He was feeling pretty cynical about this election and trying to avoid coverage but we have a daughter too and I think he's open to voting for Harris. Before he was just going to skip the vote. We are in VA.

Yes we need to talk to our partners and have civil discussions. Sharing Michelle's speech is a good start. I'm glad you did this.

She’s the walking embodiment of the American Dream that she tells us with every opportunity doesn’t exist. It’s laughable.

What is your evidence - reality based only, please - that the Democrats have done a “racial ‘divide and conquer’”? Because I don’t see it. I see the Democratic Party trying to make a rising tide to lift all boats - and Trump trying to kick minorities in the teeth.

This is very interesting for James Carville

His comment about Democrats becoming the party of preachy females are either going to be extremely on point or he’s going to be left for dead in strategy circles.

It's both. The Dems simply refuse to hear it. Even after they get trounced in this election, I predict zero self-reflection on how they have turned off an entire generation of young men. The message will continue to be #votelikeawoman. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I listened to it this morning while cleaning the bathroom and doing laundry. It got me fired up.
