Suggest a wine tasting venue 1 hour from DC

Go to this one and bring a picnic

Then go to this one (10 min from Rockland)

Check the websites for food trucks and music.

On the way back Coopers Hawk or restaurants in Park Potomac is convenient for food if you drive down 28, or even if you go down River Road there are Restaurants at the village.

Hope to combine tasting and purchase with a nice walk. Thanks.

Under 50 is tough for a real show piece - but around 50 and you’d get something from Linden.

If you are ok with White, linden has some great whites under 60 (maybe under 50, I can’t really remember). Their reds trend a bit higher, but I think their whole release is under 70 (but some of their library wines are a bit more, IIRC).

Why in the world would you go to a chain restaurant when there are top quality vineyards 30 minutes away? This suggestion would make sense in Kansas, not in Virginia.

“Top quality” 🤣😂🤣😭

Ah yes, the world famous wine region of the American Mid-Atlantic. Any winery here is strictly for ambience and that’s fine.

That’s not true.

Virginia is the oldest wine region in the US and routinely has wines appear on the Wine Enthusiast Top 100 list. Btw, as a fairly credentialed wine snob, this kind of comment is a dead giveaway that you're an amateur.

Congratulations for being the first colony. I don’t need to flaunt my credentials when I can just drive to Napa.

Given that this is a DC-based message board, I'm venturing a guess that most of us can't just "drive to Napa." So we'll have to stick with the perfectly fine Virginia and Maryland options.

Did an ocean open up between here and California? Of course we can drive to Napa. Maybe if you knew a bit more about wine and geography you wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the local Napa options we have.

I'm not understanding the question. You want to buy a bottle of wine to bring to someone abroad?

Yes. To Asia for host gift bc it’s local. Not bc it’s superior. Thanks.

I’d just do Barboursville. It’s local and easy to find in grocery stores here.

Um, what? What are "local Napa options"? And are you seriously suggesting that people should drive 41 hours to go to a winery?

50.00 for a bottle of decent wine is nuts!
