Why not someone your own age?

"The risk of chromosomal abnormality increases with maternal age. The chance of having a child affected by Down syndrome increases from about 1 in 1,250 for a woman who conceives at age 25, to about 1 in 100 for a woman who conceives at age 40. It is possible that risks may be higher as many statistics only report live births and do not take into account pregnancies with chromosomal abnormalities that were terminated or ended due to natural pregnancy loss."

So what ? Are you a hater??

I love and cherish my kid who has Down Syndrome, born when I was 26. I've never seen a more loving and involved dad than my DH.

Now, if I knew my child would have autism, then I would terminate.

Its not all about what a parent wants, quality of every child's life matters more. They may find parent's choice thoughtless and selfish.

NP. Take your arrogance and judgment elsewhere. Nothing in life is guaranteed. Your kids or grandkids could have a disabling accident tomorrow, leaving them with a horrible quality of life. You control nothing.

True. Life is so unpredictable, its rather irresponsible to have children and die or be disabled on them.

Unpredictable here meant for parents to have kids and die or become disabled so no guarantee of being there for children.

*parents die or disable themselves

No, they’re not getting married and they’re not having babies. Young women are smart - they see what a terrible deal it is for them - work full time and then do your second full time job at home. And they’re not doing it.

Bill Gates's daughter got engaged at 21, and married after three years and had a baby soon after and is pregnant with her second. She is a pediatrician.

Look, another woman who hates her life. Shocking.

My anecdotal evidence bears this out but where did you find that 41% statistic?

Why not someone your own age?

40 year-old male here. I am looking to marry someone between 24 and 30. Why would I want to marry some 30+ leftover women?

Well, because by that definition, you are a 40+ leftover man.

Definitely a red flag!

40 year-old PP here. I am currently dating a 24 year-old and a 25 year-old woman, and things are going well. I think I am going to break up with the 24 year-old because I have so much more in common with the 25 year-old. No women would want to date me when I was 22 to 39 year-old because I had no money and spent those years building my career. Now is the right time for me to settle down with someone between 24 and 30 year-old. Most 30+ year-old women have emotional baggage, IMHO.

On the contrary, no. I can be 40 year-old, get married and have a child, whereas it is extremely hard and risky for a woman to get married, pregnant, and have a child at the age of 40.

Is it really that hard to guess? Parents worry.

No, the OP is referring to the frequent early marriage posts here. There's another ongoing one about an alleged trend of marrying right out of college. Not a trend in my kids' cohorts
