Not as compared to DC and MD privates at about the same cost. |
I mean, you can’t beat going to school in the shadow of the National Cathedral for scenic views, but some of us learned our lesson about commutes as teens and are not interested in repeating those mistakes. |
Visitation and Madeira both beat the close for views. |
and neither are easy to get to from Alexandria. |
I mean, I think a great education trumps a bit of a commute. And you don't get a great education at SSSAS. And Wilson's road diet on Seminary makes that commute tricky anyway. |
Oh, please. We have no issue getting to or from SSSAS via Seminary Road. I opposed that road diet (mostly out of concern for ambulances needing to get to the hospital) but have moved on at this point. It’s really not that big a deal. Our commute from Park Fairfax area to SSSAS is 10-15 mins. |
| No private school has as many days off as SSSAS. Not a serious school by any measure. But it is one of the nicest schools in all of Alexandria. |
NCS US has more days off than SSSAS US this year. NCS: https://bbk12e1-cdn.myschoolcdn.com/ftpimages/59/misc/misc_275749.pdf SSSAS: https://www.sssas.org/userfiles/sssausmvc/documents/Major%20School%20Dates%20External%20for%202024-2025.pdf |
Both schools have a sizable population of students from Alexandria. Madeira has or had a bus from Alexandria for day students, but many girls board as well. Visi takes a lot of girls from BSSM and other girls from Alexandria Catholics. |
We are at SSSAS for US (also have a student at another private high school) and haven’t found they have additional days off. Seems pretty standard. |
| I think it might be harder to get into Bishop Ireton than SSSAS. SSSAS will take pretty much anyone who can pay. They can't afford to be selective since they pool only from Alexandria. |
But the BI class is twice as big. |
Ignore irrational haters. One glance at any grade’s class list would show this person has no clue. |
This is so false. |
|
Are you Catholic? BI.
Are you Episcopalian? SSSAS. Neither? Move to Arlington or Fairfax Counties and enroll your kids in public. |
