Academic rigor, college admissions, and sports?

This has been asked a few times here. Found this thread, which may provide some of the insight you’re looking for.

And this OP actually got the school’s name right!

I’m assuming the obvious differences of size and religion aren’t differentiators for you, OP?

Does it really bother you that much if someone refers to it as St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (SSSA) versus St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (SSSAS)? Sheesh!

Both offer similar rigor, might lean that BI is a little more rigorous but depends on your student and what path they are taking.

Sports depends on what you're looking for. Girls sports tend to be stronger at BI then boys sports lately but many students have opportunities there to play. Girls basketball just won the state championship. Football beat SSSAS last year but probably similar in skill. Really depends on the sport.

College admissions, check their websites and social media. Both post. All kids going to great schools.

Main difference will be religion. Bishop Ireton is catholic so their policies on gender issues will be different from SSSAS.

Tuition is significantly less at Bishop Ireton.

Bishop Ireton is slightly larger.

Both good schools.

Yeah, it does, actually. No one calls National Cathedral School NC. Sidwell Friends School is always Sidwell or SFS, not SF. Get the name right.

Agree. It's just incomplete and a little annoying.

SSSA sounds like a great community! Do the parents just sit around and whine about proper abbreviations? Sounds lovely! I wonder how that pedantic idiocy translates into issues that really matter.

No more or less than any other school’s parent community. Welcome to dcum.

To be fair, I've never seen SSSAS parents viciously attack anyone on here (not saying they haven't, but I've never seen it). Meanwhile, I have been viciously attacked by parents from a local Catholic school when asking about their teaching methods.

As a family at the school, I could care less! Three Ss is plenty and we know what school it is.

You mean the school’s website url, sssas.org?

SSSAS is a good bit more rigorous and expensive.
