Sorry, I should have checked. His divorced father married the Swanson heiress. Also Carlson didn’t go to an Ivy (Trinity College is great and I have friends who went there, but not an Ivy) and the CIA turned him down. To me he’s got a lot of insecurities under that so-called old-money facade. |

He's been around a long time. He used to wear bow ties on air which was a bad look and I couldn't get past that though he was objectively good looking. He dressed likr a pretentious wannabe. He's kind of puffy and fat now.
There was a rather flattering article about him in the New Yorker about 5-6 years ago. His family story is unusual, to say the least. I've known a couple of people whose mom left the family and it was devastating. He seemed to shrug it off (in the article). I think he has a lot of demons. I think he's a fake and sees his whole schtik as show biz. He's conservative but it's all exaggerated. His dad was in the same field. He knows it's a cutthroat world to survive in and he does what he has to to survive. |
