They were pretty clear that's a dead end.

Should have known better. Guess the BOE is just trying to pass the blame then by telling these families they’ll ask the Council in July when they know the answer will be “no”

+1 They are making the County Council the bad guys instead of asking hard questions of the Central Office. This is why we need a FT Board of Education - we need folks with the time to actually go through the budget, speak with educators and administrators, and ask questions about some of these trendy initiatives that will be gone in 3 years anyway.

Have you ever asked CO a question?:
A) they will take a message to give to the "person in charge"
B) never call you back
C) if they write or call back, give conflicting information
D) all of the above

Break up the CO to get better results for students!

Some board members put in this amount of work effort already. 60-hour weeks. Regardless of the hostility that many express on this forum for the BOE, you should know that many of them are working really hard for what amounts to $6-8 per hour.
We're getting our money's worth.

No we aren’t. They cut multiple programs that hurt kids while sitting in their fancy new offices. Shame on them.

Mva scores are good. They would no share them because then they could not justify the shut down.

I think you think saying this means "they don't deserve any more money because they're bad," but you have to realize that you get what you pay for. We're not going to get competent, skilled people willing to treat the oversight and direction of MCPS as a full-time job, and do a good job of it, to run for BOE unless we're willing to pay something resembling competitive wages for a professional full-time job.

Has Bethany Mandel shown up to scream at everybody because she lost the election that she never had a chance of winning? That sounds like something she would do.

The irony, right? At today's meeting with the MVA community trying not to cry while the Board sits in that posh room.

What are they talking out now? Can't watch until 5pm.

Yes she does because she approved and voted for them. She is up for election and likely to lose in November so she was just trying to get votes by pretending like she is against all of this.

Have never seen her so vocal at a meeting. It must be that new room.

They are scared and are fighting for what they believe in. Have some compassion.

Their 'shouting' pales in comparison to the students who bring drugs, weapons, and physical violence into our in-person schools.

You don't think kids bringing weapons to school, or getting into fights, are scared? That's not justification for their behavior.

What a strange conspiracy theory. Why do you think MCPS and the BoE are out to get you?

What is strange about wanting a public school system funded with public tax dollars to be transparent in their actions?

Would you prefer a King who makes pronouncements from a throne?
