Where are you buying greeting cards?

Savers/Unique sells bags of new greeting cards plus envelopes- new Trader Joe’s/Papyrus/Hallmark. I’ve both and purchased.

It's like, "Happy Birthday you old b**ch!"

And all the ones for husband are like, "You fart too much, but you're not so bad!"

We are def picking out different cards. I find a lot of them sappy or low key religious.

I agree with both pp’s. Why can’t they make more with generic messages? I get them from Target or Amazon.

Dollar Tree. Paper plates and other party stuff are just down the aisle.

Ew.

Too many weirdo hippie-types still wearing Covid masks.

No thanks!

One year on my birthday my mother gave me a beautifully wrapped little box, and inside it was a necklace that I already owned.

This is my necklace,” I said.

“I know, I found it! Remember , you lost it? Happy birthday, my love!”

Then she gave me a birthday card still wrapped in the plastic “in case you want to reuse it.”

Then she collected the box and wrapping paper to reuse later.

Your post reminds me of this.

Oh! My DH did this once. It was the most thoughtful thing he could’ve done. He knew how brokenhearted I was that I had lost it. And he knows how cheap I am and Wouldn’t want him to buy me another one. He even went to the store and had them give him a box to put it in to gift to me…. So of course I thought it was new but before I. Could get mad, I realized that it was the old one.

I can save you some money on the first one -- just write a thank-you note on regular stationery.

You're welcome!

DP here. Bulk thank you cards are no more expensive than regular stationary.

But they're tacky.

If someone is wants to judge my thank you card, they can feel free to do so.

I like to thrift shop. There is this one thrift shop in my town that will sometimes have a gallon sized ziplock bag full of cards for sale for $2. The cards are new, with envelopes. Generally there are about 20 cards in each bag. I buy the bag, bring it home and see what I got. Generally I will keep half the cards, and return the rest to the thrift shop next time I shop there.
It is nice to have a mini card store here at home. I keep them all in a shoebox, and when a need for a card arises, I just sort through my shoebox full of cards that I already have.

So few people actually send a thank you card anymore. I would be thrilled to receive one, whether it is a post-it note, a card, or handwritten on stationery.

Anonymous wrote:I picked what looks like a simple Father’s Day card and it was $4. Greeting cards have really gone up in price. I try to buy them from Trader Joe’s where they are $1, but they don’t have the biggest selection. Papyrus used to be $4-5, and those are really nice, but too expensive these days. Where are you buying your greeting cards from and how much do they cost?

Costco has a box of 100 divided up by categories for 20 buck I think. It’s come in handy so many times. It even has blank cards with cool designs.

Greeting cards are impersonal and expensive, instead write letters or just buy blank in bulk and customize them with hand written notes.

OMG - I was just complaining about this! It's truly insane how expensive cards are. Like a previous poster, I buy mine at Dollar Tree - you can get them for 2 for 1.25.

Dollar Tree or Dollar General for the most part. Five Below has inexpensive cards as well.

I also buy packs of 10 when I just need a generic card that I know I will need again eventually--kids' birthday cards, graduations, thank you, etc. It comes out to less than $1 per card.

Anonymous wrote:The Dollar Tree - really. They are Hallmark cards, just at a reasonable price. Even making them and printing at home is more expensive.

This.

Thank you notes usually come in a pack. Do you seriously pick out like 15 individual $8 thank you cards when you need to thank people after an event?
