Supplementing a sub-par school

To put the supplementing vs. moving thing in perspective, my sister lives in a wealthy suburb nationally known for its excellent public schools. Parents there still do things like Kumon and Mathnasium. My sis and niece make fun of them for that, but there you go.

About Beast Academy and Zearn: Beast Academy ($$) will require heavy parental involvement and it can get really hard. Zearn (usually free) can be frustratingly easy and repetitive for many kids.

From the parent of a middle schooler -- honestly a smart kid who read well (and ideally plays an instrument) is going to be fine in elementary.

Then enroll them in the best middle school you are able it. There is not amount of supplementing that can help, and if they came from a sub-par elementary they will have time to catch up before high school.
