When in the hell did a 2 liter bottle of soda start costing $3.00+ each?

Economy is great! Just keep repeating like a mantra while you are drinking an overprice cool aid.

This is a good deal. At the 7 11 I pay $4 for for two 16 ounce Pepsis.

…she asks, all wide-eyed and gobsmacked.

I drink a ton of soda. People keep telling me to drink water instead. But I think it’s one’s patriotic duty to drink soda. After all, there IS a water shortage.

Almost all grocery stores have Memorial Day sales this weekend so deals for sodas, watermelon, burger buns, etc... are as good as they're gonna get.

I got Buy 2 get 2 Coke 12 packs (also Pepsi, same deal) at Harris Teeter. They also had Bubly sparkling water at Buy 2 get 3. Safeway and Giant had similar sales (and the initial 2 may have been cheaper - I think I paid close to $30 for those 9 containers).

Also look at Amazon. Large boxes of General Mills cereal (Cinnamon Toast Crunch, for example) is often $2.99 on Amazon when it's $7 in stores. Comes next day if you have Prime.

Is that supposed to be a lot of money? I’m sorry you’re a poor.

I think it was a long while ago. Maybe even a year and a half or two years ago, when those liter bottle prices jumped.
Are you the op who is upset about your in-laws eating your food?
Maybe you should go shopping more often, scrooge.

Why is OP a scrooge for being shocked at the jump in soda prices? Coca Cola and Pepsi are laughing all the way to the bank.

As long as you don't drink DC water, you will be fine. Otherwise, it's tasty, tasty lead for you.

This with increased obesity related diseases should be taken as a sign for this nation to stop consuming soda.

So, what’s your Vice? Everyone has one. Drink any alcohol? Like chips with your sandwich? A cookie or ice cream? Or do you just stick to organic kale and celery?
All things in moderation.

Out of curiosity, how often do folks think that prices on everyday goods should go up? Or, put another way, for how many years do you think prices should remain the same?

Exactly. This is insane.

Never. If anything, prices should always go down as progress improves manufacturing output.

+1

We know it is hard for MAGA idiots to read, understand economics and that the President doesn't set prices CEO's do.

But MAGA is too stupid to understand that under another Don the Con administration we will be like Russians with bread lines. Oh no we won't have bread because crops won't be picked, because Miller will be in charge of Deporations. Oh and fresh fruit nah we don't need that either or new roofs or paving for roads etc...
