What happens if you already committed to another school? Do you just lose the deposit?

DS got 4 days at a WASP LAC. I've heard its a week at some Ivies. You lose your deposit, usually $500, at the other school.

As for OP's DC's stats, I can say with confidence that they're very high. They're the same kind of high stats that get kids admitted into other Ivies and Ivy+'s. But also other kids with the same stats get denied from those same schools. Knowing further details in this instance is only going to provide the mere illusion of predictability. But as someone who has admittedly and obsessively tried to employ pattern recognition in such T20 admission results, I'm pretty sure they don't really exist outside of a few well-known hooks. All such kids have excellent stats. OP's DC is highly unlikely to be an exception.

Congrats again, OP!

It’s the school’s CCO and head of school making calls/writing letters on behalf of Ivy/Ivy+ WL kids.

Fallacy. My kid got off an Ivy waitlist with no calls and no private counselor. Kid wrote a continued interest letter.

Jesus. Not everything is black-and-white. Yes, your kid can get in without it.

Someone asked if anything else was happening at private schools. I responded with what I knew from MY school. It doesn’t mean you need to have this. Why are you so eager to pick a fight?

I’m done. No need to share the rest.

Anonymous wrote:Are these kids who are getting off the Brown waitlist coming from private or public schools? Internet rumor has it that when it comes to waitlists, that's when it helps the most to have gone to a private. The counselors have relationships with the AOs that public school counselors don't.

Also are they the same ones posting on CC?

I can say our private CCs are working phones/WLs etc and started in April….

Just one person’s experience ms fallacy

That’s a high deposit! Both schools where we deposited (one before and one after a WL) were $500!

But but but.
My experience.
I learned so much from this place over the last 12 months, but I feel no need to share my experience & the stuff I’ve gleaned.

This place is toxic. I can’t even share one experience without some crazy fallacy police mom - with no life - saying what I know is wrong.

Nothing on this site is absolute. There is no absolute in college admissions. Everything everything everything depends on situation, specific facts, and the profile of the applicant

Congrats on brown!
It’s a reminder that….Anything is possible.

And it doesn’t matter how you get there as long as you get there!

Congrats to your kid OP! And let's all celebrate every person's good news on this board; it's a horrible process and anytime something breaks positively, especially when it's something unexpected like a WL admit at an Ivy, we should all be cheering!
