All this drama the kids go through for what in the long run? |
|
"The existing ECNL teams were basically cut in half, most players either got notification to attend the general tryout or already got a letter not to come back..."
Well, the club did these kids wrong if they waited until after most clubs have had their higher level team tryouts to demote them. If so, the kids can now scramble to find a team, quit club soccer, or eat a crap sandwich and leave the club mid season. Youth soccer is so messed up if misleading kids that they will stay on their same team until it is too late to leave is a main way to try to improve your club. But that's where we are at I guess. |
Interesting point 🤔 All over the forum are posts and comments about the low quality of HS soccer and the fact the best players in the area do not play HS soccer Yet, all the ECNL players play HS soccer 🤔 So, is HS soccer quality higher than we say or is ECNL quality lower than we say? The floor is open |
It's the hs coaches that want to play the kick and run. The kids don't like it, but they can't do anything about it. I think most college soccer is like hs soccer. So the best soccer your kid will play is for their club team. |
In the Fall, MLS Next kids are doing quality training and playing quality competition while ECNL kids are running around with PE teachers and playing kick-ball games? But both parents are shelling out same amount of cash? |
My son loves playing in HS. It’s an experience that the MLS Next kids will never get. He knows the HS team isn’t as good as his ECNL team, but he would never give it up…unless maybe DC United came calling. |
I see some MLS Next kids at HS games cheering and celebrating with their friends. So they aren't missing the experience |
Yeah, that’s totally the same as being part of the team. LOL |
It's better. Stress free and injury free enjoyment. While not having to participate in lower level training and games. |
Keep avoiding touches...let's see where that gets a kid. A truly dedicated kid who cares about soccer is not sitting and watching HS games. He's playing...no matter where that is. |
how is it avoiding touches if you have your mls next training and games? |
|
Look, if your kid wants to sacrifice his high school years spending all of their free time training with an MLS Next team, more power to you. It's the best path to college soccer.
I want my son to enjoy high school, and all of the social elements that come with it, and playing high school sports is a big part of that for him. He loves it. Not for everyone, and I respect those that are more singlemiinded of purpose. |
| There's already another thread where parents are complaing that their exceptional kids are being tainted by the horrors of high school soccer...so can you move those comments over there, and leave this for the Potomac discussion? |
| Any updates on Potomac, anyway? |
| Anyone? |
