^ defender. You can also pay a tax attorney to help you with your taxes. There are all kinds of short cuts available to people with money. You know this. |
The question is why is this private company being given priority access to a taxpayer-funded resource? I mean, that's really a rhetorical question, the answer is "because America," but California is rightly calling this out as BS. |
You do understand that the flight attendants have a legitimate business reason to move to the front of the line, right? This isn't the same thing at all. |
I don't actually have a strong opinion on it, because I have Clear and have found it mostly not worthwhile recently, like the linked article from the OP. I get it for free from a credit card and would not pay anything for it out of pocket at this point. That said, I honestly think the substantive issue is quite literally the discomfort of the line cutting- having someone physically step in front of you. It feels deeply offensive to people. In a way that just having totally separate lines doesn't. |
I find it less offensive than in pretty much every other instance. They aren't getting anywhere faster they are just waiting less in one area and will go wait more somewhere else. I have precheck and I don't alter my airport arrival time anticipating a very short wait. But there are so many other examples where people can pay to cut the line, and actually save time. There's just not much advantage at the airport. |
So this opens up an opportunity for another private start up company called "Ultra Clear". When you pay for "ultra clear" you will get to go to the head of the "Clear line". I know someone who started the "clear" business and he is making a ton of money so I think "Ultra Clear" would rake it in. Isn't America great? |
No that naming is wrong. It's going to be Clear Diamond. |
^^ you win |
We have it b/c of CC and I just got pre. Like pre better except maybe DCA. Clear there is really short but again, just got pre. Pre at IAD was bliss. No wait! |
We have Pre and use it often at both DCA terminals. I've never had an issue with line cutters from Clear. Is this more of an issue during business travel times? |
It also creates issues. Anyone who has ever flown out of Orlando has seen how Clear bogs down the lines when they try to find an open spot. I'm convinced that's why Orlando is a nightmare. |
I feel like there just is one person making most of the anti-clear posts. It feels a little crazy to me. |
Again, is this a business travel issue? We fly in/out MCO 2x a year and have never had much of a wait with Pre at all. I can’t remember noticing someone cutting us either. |
I always assumed the government was supportive of clear as a developer/expediter and to slowly make it acceptable to use biometric data for all of us someday as a way to get through airport security. Fine with me. |
Clear Diamond? Sign me up. |
