Baby Reindeer on Netflix

Happy aspirational movies and series are few and far in between nowadays. Too much self loathing and politics today.

I'm not sure how to explain it but it was over the top, kind of cartoonish instead if telling a straight story, which I think would have been more powerful.

I read in one review that they chose this tone to be similar to that of a horror film.

Sounds gross

Are there any American shows coming out recently that have these dark, perverse themes? Seems they are all British.

It's not a show, it's a movie, but I saw a lot of similarities with Blonde, which I hated (even though the book it is based on is amazing).

Er, no. It is a film. The actress who played Marilyn Monroe was even nominated for an Academy Award.

Moron.

Yes, I know that Baby Reindeer is a tv show, ffs. I'm watching it right now. Someone asked about similarly dark themed tv shows and I think Blonde is similar in tone, but it isn't a tv show, it is a film. Which is what that first post referencing Blonde said. You have really poor reading comprehension.

When I first heard the show's premise, I thought good for Gadd, making lemonade from lemons. But when I watched the first few episodes, it felt exploitative. I stopped before the rape episode.

Anyway, now the stalker "Martha" is speaking speaks out, after she has been outed.

I think the whole situation is just sad and depressing overall. I miss aspirational tv too

I felt the mental health issue was his and hers. He was just as vulnerable as she was.

Why all these failure to launch characters?
