220 is Maryland.

I was born in SE DC, and my SSN doesn’t start with 557 or 558. So PP’s question is not as determinative as she thinks it is.

On a related note, when these “native” threads pop up routinely on DCUM, they tend to focus on a fairly narrow, white NWDC perspective. Nothing wrong with that, just know that it’s only one perspective.

Spot on! Bostonians are a whole other level. I lived there for 5 years before returning to my native NYC. I’m now married to a Bostonian who is still considered a traitor for moving to NYC. Bostonians get worse with age. I’m hinting at two city dwellings when I sell my home. Shipping him back to his people.

A group of friends once chartered a boat in a fabulous destination and the captain asked where everyone was from. When Suzy said she was from NY, a legit native born New Yorker said, “WTF, Suzy? You might have been born and raised in nyc, but your parents shipped you off to Chaute for your formative years. You’re more of a New England a$$hat than a real hardscrabble New Yorker. I mean, you learned to drive in the suburbs.”

Anyway, New Yorkers win the prize for being the most fixated on native status…and they use definitions that are convenient.
