Palace making an announcement at 2pm

Why on earth would they have said in the beginning that it wasn’t cancer?

If it was an incidental finding, the surgery was for another cause and they only found out about the cancer later.

Agreed. Everything makes sense in hindsight.

The edited pics do not make sense and the statement that she edited them do not make sense. Yes, even in tragedy, leaders should still not manipulate the public. Asking for privacy is one thing, manipulation is another. So, I am still suspect at anyone making excuses for the latter (particuarly over and over again on this website).

Agree, all of this could have been avoided with slightly more transparency from the get go.

Still doesn't quite explain the Mother's Day photo.

Hoping she makes a full recovery and folks leave them alone.

The Mothers Day photo can be clearly explained by a palace official having their head up their ass and not understanding the social media environment and just making a huge blunder.

And then blaming it on the woman with the cancer???

No, I bet she did it herself, while feeling sick and tired, and just didn’t do a great job and was too tired to care. Which is SO understandable and I hope people
Stop making fun of the photo. The woman was dealing with cancer and chemo and did a not great editing job of a photo and the world is STILL making fun of the photo.

+1 So many were so shamelessly awful.

I am so stunned.

Why not say what it is?

Colon? Uterine? Cervical? Ovarian? Bladder?

Hope it isn’t pancreatic. Although I know a few people who had early diagnoses that are living pretty well for now.

Stop. It.

The palace has been silent because a mother didn’t want her three young children learning about her serious illness from the press. And they were excoriated for it. The last thing they need now is armchair oncologists speculating on her health status.

Do you have no empathy at all for what this family is going through? Can you even imagine what it was like to have to break the news of an illness like this to your children while the press and every internet troll is reporting that you’re divorcing or dead? I would hope that those of you who spent days frantically typing out increasingly bizarre theories about affairs etc have learned a lesson, but apparently not.

Pretty sure the royal children don’t read DCUM.

His wife and his father. It's a shame his brother has been such an additional source of stress to the family as they battle serious health issues.

Wishing them both a full recovery.

The gleeful speculation re: DV and affairs was in poor taste then and extremely cruel in light of what has now been revealed. I think the timing was in part due to that but also due to the "Easter" date that had been communicated earlier.

My heart goes out to the kids, still so very young.

I agree it still doesn't make sense. Her statement was absolutely perfect - which suggests to me that her team is capable of good PR. So why bother with the whole photo fiasco?

It’s not making fun of editing. It’s the deception. All they had to do to avoid this was make a Canva square with a message from her or them.

Maybe they didn't know. Tests had to be run, biopsies, etc. Maybe it looked like a benign tumor. I think some of the awful sleuths need to hang up their hats and find a new hobby because they all look like asses now.

I’m betting she was having a lot of spotting/ bleeding and attributed it to fibroids or similar, so had a hysterectomy, and it revealed (along with fibroids) a very early stage endometrial or uterine cancer that she will fully recover from. Wishing her well.

You can get a fibroid removed through abdomen and they are always biopsied. There are several ways to move fibroids but if they are big they require thru the abdomen which is a c section like recovery.

Maybe so unfortunately I think that's what made things worse.. I know people will still speculate somewhat but maybe now people will ignore those that are clearly trolling and looking for clicks.

Oh and that Spanish journalist should be fired.

+1 And I feel terrible for her but it also does not make sense if he only visited her once.

Who cares about the stupid photo at this point. OK, PR blundering. Considering how sick she looks I think there are bigger things to focus on, like human empathy.

Why would her kids be finding out from the media? I was George’s age when my dad was diagnosed with cancer and I’m sure they told the children as it’s unlikely they wouldn’t notice she was doing chemo.
