Not quite. UTk and UofSC are much stronger than Bama and Ole Miss. |

My son got in Auburn and I absolutely loved it. Such a welcoming school, so clean, so incredibly friendly. The town is adorable too. I was so sad, he just chose University of Florida instead.
just be warned, Auburn is well known to have NO grade inflation. You definitely go there to learn the material. You do f&ck around but you better learn to juggle and balance it all. My son didn’t even try for Alabama, his impression was that it was trashy. |
You're sad that he chose a much more prestigious university? |
Florida: 28 Auburn: 93 Why would you be sad, PP? |
I went to Auburn years ago, and I wouldn't have said that Auburn was the preppier of the 2. Both have preppy, Greek kids, but there is plenty else. What is your child studying? If STEM or agriculture, Auburn, for sure. If pre-professional, either, but both the medical and law schools are part of the U of Alabama system. I would still choose Auburn over Bama, but I'm pretty biased (and I hope my children attend better schools than either). |
What metric in the ranking formula matters? |
Auburn is a heck of a lot smaller than Alabama. They don’t have room to accept more people. Have you been? |
| To the PP that mentioned weather earlier….yes, be prepared for them tornado drills. Lived there for 5 years and I do not miss that weather! |
Auburn is actually not "a lot smaller". Smaller, yes. About 33,000. Bama has about 39,000. It is the campus of Auburn that makes it feel much smaller, because it is so compact. And I agree, Auburn needs to stop admitting larger classes as they are bursting at the seams. |
Didn't a tornado make a direct hit on Auburn not too long ago? |
because everything isn’t about UNWR? |
You might be thinking of the Tuscaloosa tornado in 2011. It didn't hit campus but rolled through one of the main roads and a lot of off-campus housing. It was pretty devastating. |
probably. sorry, I haven't been to either campus and I get them confused all the time. |

| My liberal kid went to Auburn and was happy there. College towns are blue dots and universities are diverse places. Didn’t want to stay after college but was happy for four years. |
