$250k combined.

$3.5M.

Ummm yeah the numbers don't add up...you have been in the workforce for probably 20 years tops and you surely haven't made that combined income the whole time...I call BS..

We married young. We didn’t make $250, but more like 150 combined at that point. We only ever lived on one income for a loonng time, and we made some very lucky investment choices along the way.

These numbers are accurate. But it’s mostly all index funds now.

Me again. We inherited $50k from my grandparents. That was our inheritance. Parents are all still alive.

No debt, you’re in good shape. You got 25 years to save for retirement and let it compound. Pay off your residence, add in Social Security. You be aight.

Just regular back door Roth and a rollover from a 401K Roth. And I self manage my roth in predominately alternative investments.

47 years old. Divorced, two kids. Earn $425k. Savings (taxable and retirement) are $2.6 million. Home equity is another $850k (I note the home equity because I expect to downsize and relocate to a cheaper location in a decade).

39yo single mom of 2

Income - $820K gross (just started year 2 of making more than $120K)

401k: $400K +
DB plan

Debt: Down from 250K in student loans to $30K

No idea what I’m doing since I grew up poor and financial advisors won’t help me because I don’t have enough savings ($100K). This thread increased my anxiety about it.

Your income went from $120K to $820K in two years?

If that is not a typo and you are just 39, you are doing more than fine.

There are financial advisors you pay by the hour. They won't care about your what your investable funds are because they are not paid via an assets under management fee.
