+1. It’s a really nice college town, safe and plenty to do. Fantastic place to spend 4 years. Knowing colleges like Harvard, Stanford quite well, I can say Brown is not perfect but it is an ideal undergraduate focused university for motivated, smart kids.

Agreed. We have friends who live there, and we visit often. It’s a lovely small city. Perfect for a kid who wants a campus in the city.

True but also not super relevant for undergrads who rarely venture out to downtown Providence.

My friends are walking distance to Brown’s campus.

Are these typical percentages for Gen Z?

I would say yes, you'll find similar percentages at other comparable elite colleges and it is very much an elite college phenomena. Looking closely at the data, there's not much % growth in homosexuals (the good old fashioned gays and lesbians) from 2010 to the present. It's the sharp increase in bisexuals and questionings. I attribute it mainly to identity-label seeking among impressionable young girls rather than anything serious.

I went to Brown and am glad to know people are still complaining about the dorms (boring but fine) and food (boring but fine) 20+ years later! There's a virtue to slumming it a bit in college. Still think highly of the place even if I am fairly moderate-conservative. I've been impressed by how the admin has handled the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on campus. Intro classes were large back then but regular classes and seminars were all sub 20. One of my proudest/coolest moments in college was getting the #2 final grade in the intro to econ seminar that had 100+ students. Providence is a great town for four years. It was only senior year that we started feeling like we wanted something more than College Hill and started venturing to Boston or NYC.

Agree. The East Side is nice and if you want to explore more you can. The location is good.

I have met some amazing folks who went to Brown. I would have LOVED to have gone there. I was in Europe instead.

I have been on DCUM since 2014 and I've only ever seen the same narrow minded banshees dismiss it as "woke" or similar.

Its not interesting, folks.

It is a good school. For some kids, perhaps the ideal school. For others, it is one among twenty or thirty schools (outside the top 5) that are basically equivalent in their overall package.

I don’t follow college sports or professional. is Brown trying to improve their sports teams? My FIL went to Brown and Harvard and he took my son every year when in Cambridge and it seemed like that was their big game and neither were that good. Almost like a recreational team compared to the Southern schools with the massive stadiums.

It wasn't supposed to be. You didn't need to be Steven Spielberg. They are fun w. homemade style and not rating on cinematography. It was to replace the interview--and only like, what, 3 minutes long?
