BROWN

They are doing a study of testing policy, legacy admissions, and early decision. Announcement due this spring, I believe. My money is on some sort of test required/test flexible policy. They’ve telegraphed their preference for test scores through comments from the president and the dean of admissions.

If they can get in to any other Ivy, seriously go there instead. It's a super woke rich kid mecca who never get defined careers after graduation. Not a lot of pride or school spirit, it's pretty sleepy. You are paying for the name and in certain circles, it's kind of a joke.

Pretty spot on. We all know why grubby dcum social climbing strivers obsess over Brown: They think their kid will meet & marry some blue blood rich peer. They won't, of course. Those kids might sometimes do drugs and booze with your kids in college, but they don't marry random DMV proles. Your kid won't truly fit in, nobody in your social circle will care they go to Brown, and odds are they will return home weird and unmotivated. And your family lacks the money to support a layabout creative. Or they'll get the same boring 9-5 job they could have had if they went to UMD like half of their high school.

This is weird and says way more about its author than it does about Brown

Brown is not this gilded carefree campus like the weirdo tiger moms on here envision. If you're a boarding school or big 3 rich teen who will have a network of baked in friends there, sure, try to get in. But for random public school kids with creepy status obsessed parents who've memorized the US News rankings, it is not going to change their life. Most normal people have never even heard of Brown. Even those who know of it, nobody cares. Complete waste of money to those not sitting on mega millions.

And your existence is a waste of air and water.

I love the fact that it's not a gilded campus. They've put money into making it so that financial aid does not include loans. It's true that the name does not resonate as much as HPY, but it is a great place to go to school and it definitely opened doors for my kid, who is happily launched. Would do it all over again!

Brown is an Ivy League. Most normal people have “heard” of it.

Brown to reinstate standardized testing requirement for undergraduate admission.

Ah. There goes our kid's plan to apply TO to Brown in Fall 2024

I wish this had happened for this year.

Your DC still has 6 months to retake the test. It is only March!

Most schools, including those at the very top, don't change the lives of the people, unless they are very good (and lucky). This said, Brown does permit students to cruise through and so increases the changes that you goof off into mediocrity.

Oh do give it a break. You're not entertaining anyone and no one is fooled.

It wouldn't have made much difference. The large majority submitted scores while they were TO.

Yup. That sounds like a disgruntled person who didn't get in or knew they wouldn't.
