Do you allow unlimited fruit?

+1.

My kids go through spurts, one week it might be endless clementines, the next week it might be bunches of bananas, the following week it's baby carrots. I'm happy to supply it all.

I try to buy things seasonally. Aldi is a really good source for teen quantities of fruits and vegetables. It seems that between my husband and son no matter how many grapes I buy they can eat them all within 36 hours.

A bag of clementines daily is not healthy or normal. If kid is that hungry, he/she needs to eat something with protein and whole grain.

The use of the word “allow” in the context of food disturbs me; it feels as if OP is projecting some kind of food relationship issue of her own onto her kids. Other posters sound far more reasonable, as in “leave done for other people” and “well, that’s all I’m buying this week.”

I’m convinced this thread was written by and for the anti-Stanley cup moms.

I don’t limit, but if my kid eats a ton of fruit on the day after grocery day, I’m not necessarily running to the store to restock. If I make a midweek trip, I’ll pick up some more. It’s the same for most foods, although sometime I will limit the milk if he goes on a binge and we’re a few days away from the next delivery. I want some too.

We constantly buy a ton of fruit and my kids eat it all. My teen will sit and eat a whole bag of clementines. I’m grateful I have the money to buy this fresh wholesome food and I let them eat as much fruit as they want.

I will tell mine to save some for the rest of the family, just to make sure that everyone gets some.

I went shopping on Sunday. I got a bag of clementines, a dozen apples, 3 containers of strawberries, 2 pints of blueberries, 8 bananas, and 2lbs of grapes. That’s for two adults, a teen, and an elementary aged child. That seems more than sufficient to me given the adults generally eat one piece of fruit per day each.

Dang that's so much fruit for 2 kids and 2 adults. I mean it's probably what I would buy if I were rich though.

We don’t have food “rules” in my house, especially over clementines dear lord.

A lot of posters are projecting their own issues on this thread. The op was a pretty basic question.

Use of the word “allow” in this context is pretty gross.

Big fruit eaters here. I was curious, so I actually tallied our fruit purchases for the week... 1 bag clementines, 6 oranges, 2 grapefruit, 1 pineapple, 12-14 apples, 1 big container of strawberries, 2 big containers of blueberries, 1 big container of raspberries, 1 big container of blackberries, 5 pears, 7-8 bananas, 5-6 lbs of grapes, 1 big container of yellow kiwi, and 4 mangoes. This is for 2 adults and 2 teens. It's been 6 days, and the cupboard is almost bare... I need to go on another big shopping trip tomorrow. Clearly, we allow unlimited fruit!

Really?
Pretty sure anyone whose teens are currently interesting clementines by the bag is not currently locking the cupboard. To not "allow" unlimited would probably look like "hey guys, I'm buying you each a three pound bag a week."
