Maret Chorus Program

Interesting that this post is getting revived. After reading through it, and having a kid who has gone through the school (currently in upper) my take is that music in lower school is great. It’s terrible in middle school. And given all the choices in upper school, where visual arts is so strong, my child definitely wouldn’t take chorus and knows the kids who do don’t love it.

So I don't think this is solely a Maret thing, and hopefully it corrects over time as things "get back to normal"

This is the case at our school as well. I think COVID has a lot to do with the problem since these kids lost out on the early opportunities during the pandemic.

Many of us have kids who continued in music during covid. My kids were in virtual school for three years and kept up with music. Most kids who are good and enjoy it do it both in school and out of school in private music lessons and orchestra's.

+1 Ours were back in the building (some outdoor classes) after three months, but even in virtual they had music and instrumental class, and we were able to keep up the private lessons too.

(aside: Why were your kids virtual for three years?)
