| Come to SSSAS! Especially if you have a son. Our choir director is wonderful but we need more boys. I think there are 8 or 9 this year. Although they hold their own and do a great job! The winter concert last week was lovely. |
hey now auntie alum, no need to get spicy |
| OP, this is a real problem at Maret that needs to be addressed. Nobody wants choir to be stressful with tests, being forced to sing solo in front of class, etc, but that’s what is happening currently in middle school. So the kids switch to band or theater tech, and don’t do any performing arts in high school. Maret still has an amazing visual arts program with supportive and wonderful teachers. This is not a COVID problem or a kids don’t like singing problem, as some posters have suggested. This is a leadership problem that needs to be addressed. |
+10000000000 (current family) They should have retained the old upper school choir director and made him department chair, or they should give the department chair position to the current lower school musical director, who is an alum and is adored by all |
hey dumb poster, time to understand a perfectly straightforward analogy (and I'm not OP) |
|
+one million. This. Leadership blew it.
|
This is the case at our school as well. I think COVID has a lot to do with the problem since these kids lost out on the early opportunities during the pandemic. |
The analogy was dumb and outdated, just like OP’s chorus comment. Landon hasn’t won the IAC outright in 5 years and has ceded control of the lacrosse landscape to SJC, Gonzaga, Georgetown Prep, etc. Stop using analogies that were true 30 years ago when you were in high school and I’ll stop calling you out. Cool, bruh? |
But OP's comment isn't outdated, that is the point you idiot. Maret chorus and performing arts used to be great, JUST LIKE LANDON lacrosse. Follow along. Or are you really too stupid. Oh. Wait. You played lacrosse at Landon, didn't you |
You seem really nice |
^ Yikes ^ It’s no wonder the program is struggling to attract kids if all of the parents are this unhinged. |
like most discussions on this board, 95% of the posters don't even go to the schools they claim to know so much about...... |
| My child loves the band director- she is a saint. Have not heard great things about choir |
And here we have an example of a parent so focused on sports they can’t take one thread about the perf arts without (1) bringing in athletics and (2) getting belligerent about it. Typical lax. |
The teacher? Or the program? |
