Yup— major boundary changes incoming.

I am sure that everyone with a “no human is illegal” yard sign, bumper sticker or tee shirt will agree to this deal.

Won’t Marshall be over capacity as well with all the Tyson’s buildup? There is no room to expand.

The two are not mutually exclusive. Sorry, they're not.

Looks like the current CIP lists Herndon’s capacity at 2,744 students though the previous post renovation number in the last CIP was 2500.

That makes current usage at 84% rather than the previous 94%.

This is just one example of probable messing with the numbers to justify a fruit basket turnover across the county.

Look at the minutes from the recent FCAP meeting, they discussed the new superintendent’s interest in a boundary change as well as the importance of boundary policy.
Remember what they wanted to do in 2019?

Why are you afraid, OP?

You bought to send your kids to an FCPS school not a specific pyramid. If you didn’t understand that when you bought, too bad.

Two in my small neighborhood in McLean did just that. One has an Afghan family living with them and one has a Ukrainian family living with them.

HS kids usually get grandfathered in.

It's more like when they bump up Herndon's reported post-renovation capacity from 2500 to 2744 the next year with no explanation, they invite Republicans to imply before an election that there must be some plan afoot to move kids to Herndon from Langley, etc. by the Democrats if they get re-elected.

Am I saying they will do so? Absolutely not.

P.S. - If you're trying to pass yourself off as a Langley parent worried about getting rezoned to a "shitty school," you need to say you spent several million dollars on your house, not some paltry "million plus dollars."

Did you know that there are million dollar homes zoned to Westfields, South Lakes, Oakton, Chantilly, even Herndon High? Great Falls isn't the only city with expensive houses in this region, PP.

Great Falls isn’t a city. It’s a neighborhood community in Fairfax county.

What would be interesting (totally unrealistic though) is if the town of Herndon re-incorporated to a city with its own schools. Then Fairfax county would have to re-draw the lines. Not sure what the distribution of students in the town of Herndon versus the area outside it but often called Herndon. How many schools are within ToH? HES and HMS? Maybe HMS, originally built to be a high school, could handle both ToH HS and MS students.

Has the school board explained the capacity difference?

Did staff not do their math correctly the first time and not a single employee caught it? How many other schools have their capacities recorded incorrectly?

Also, sometimes rooms get recategorized as instructional spaces which isn't an error. For instance, if there was a program associated with the school that took up disproportionate amounts of space per pupil (e.g., autobody shop or other voc-ed program with a lot of equipment) and the numbers on that changed or they got rid of the program, it gets recategorized as instructional space which adds to the pupil amount. It's not a strict by the square foot amount.

There is a modular at Marshall so if there is room for a modular there is certainly space for a more vertical addition.

The whole county needs to be scrutinized and re-aligned thoughtfully.

The new superintendent will get it done. She won’t back down like Brabrand.
