| EarthBisquits, You do relize that a cars MPG is more a factor of the driving conditions and maintenace of the vehicle, than just what is actually posted on the manf sticker? For instance the majority of drivers in the DC Metro area are reserved to 'city' driving, meaning everyone here gets some of the worse possible MPG performance out of their respective cars (newer hybrids excluded). The hybrids on the reverse see their downgrade on MPG when driving fast (racelike: not the real word I am looking for, but not to be confused with aggressive) or on the highways. Understanding cars might be a tough concept for the posters on this board who choose cars, based on color, cuteness, or what the PR campaigns are spoonfeed them. Prius-loving-nazi, What are you doing with that HUGE battery when the car eventually fulfills it's life-expectancy? |

10:33 are you seriously trying to suggest that an Excursion, or Tahoe, or Suburban being driven in ideal conditions gets better mileage than a Prius or small non-hybrid being driven under terrible conditions?
Screeching louder and using more colorful insults doesn't make your point valid. |

This video will help explain...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKTOyiKLARk Understand it is done in a comical way, but 11:44 you see that, Yes, a Prius can get horrible gas mileage (17 MPG). |
| ^^^ Top Gear -- one of the greatest shows on TV!!! |
20 years ago people drove vans, station wagons and *gasp* SUV's. Ever heard of a Bronco? |
You are one bitter bitch who has not been laid in quite some time. Or perhaps your just a twelve year old who logged onto mommy's computer. His penis is small? Seriously? |
Maybe this poster is too young and naive to know about the enormous gas sucking Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and that was considered a mid-sized car. Maybe the poster was too young to be a passenger in the old school enormous station wagons with the faux wood panels in the outside. |
Yes but not everyone felt they were entitled to them and minivans were a fairly new invention. In 1990 I knew one family that had a minivan. There weren't the choices there are now and we are paying for that poor gas mileage. |
Calm down. PP was referencing the snobby neighbor thread where that OP talked about her neighbor's small penis. |
Waw waw waw...Back is 1790 before the cotton gin. Give it a rest, we are all going to drive our gas guzzlers we that are entitled to spend our money on and you can stuff a big fat sock in it. Suck my tailpipe. |
Huh??? 1990? I'm talking 1980 BITCHES! The cars were HUGE. People drove GIANT station wagons with wood paneling. People drove JEEPS AND BRONCOS. Exactly how old are you because you obviously do not realize cars were BIGGER back then, not smaller. Not to mention gas wasn't as clean as it is now and there weren't as many government safegaurds protecting the air and forcing car parts to be cleaner (carborator). So really? 1990 is the best you can do? Do a google search for some 1970/1980 vehicles. People drove VANS for christs sake. |
| Sure, and people let their kids ride in the back of hatchbacks and never wore seatbelts and smoked like chimneys while pregnant and drank like fish. When you know better, you do better. |
The poster must have just graduated high school, I suppose she has no idea what a volkswagen bus is either. They were all over the road. And the classic conversion van? Duh. I hate to break it to her, but a large gas guzzling family car is not a modern day concept, nor a disease of "entitlement". Morons. |
20 years ago is what was said and 20 years ago it was 1990. |
20 years ago people drove vans, station wagons and *gasp* SUV's. Ever heard of a Bronco? When I was growing up in the 1970s and 80s my mom drove a full-sized Chevy van with the four of us kids. My dad had two more kids in addition to us four and drove a Suburban. There was no such thing as a minivan or an SUV. The other difference between then and now is the car seat requirement. Back then we and our friends would ride in the back of the van or friends' station wagons, just rolling around loose. Of course that is illegal now. And hybrid is not a useful technology for vehicles larger than a Prius or Civic. The hybrid Toyota Highlander gets 1 mpg better than the gas version. What we need is a lot more of the clean diesel they have in Europe for wagons and larger cars, which get 30-40-even 50 mpg. So far only a handful are being sold in the US. We should all be lobbying for this!! |
