It's funny - you don't hear any of these complaints about rich, white schools in the Northeast where each town runs their own school. Real estate = schools. Everyone knows you get what you pay for. The residents in and around Langley deserve what they paid for, and everyone else is just jealous.

You inadvertently gave up the gig.

They pay the same tax rate as everyone else in the county and their taxes would be much higher if they were in a separate town.

Yet they alone in FCPS send their kids to a public high school with no economic diversity because they throw their money around and intimidate School Board members.

DP. So you continue to "throw around" your stupid, utterly baseless claims because you have such hatred for a school that your kids don't even attend. You know posts like this only serve to make YOU look bad, not the Langley community - right?

The county elected a Board of Supervisors and School Board that each endorsed the "One Fairfax" policy.

The response of Langley/Great Falls residents?

1. Create a "One Great Falls" group to underscore how they viewed themselves as separate from (if not superior to) the rest of the county.

2. Rename it as "Voices of Fairfax" to try and disguise their agenda,

3. Persuade a local School Board candidate who'd initially expressed her support for "One Fairfax" to scrub her website of any references to "One Fairfax."

And you are still worried that some day the BOS and SB will start taking One Fairfax more seriously, so you try to trash anyone or everyone who points out you're still part of the same county as everyone else.

So, no, not too worried about how "bad" we look in comparison.

I'm actually not worried about the bolded at all. Not even a tiny bit. The focus of One Fairfax, to the detriment of everything else, is equity. By now most residents of Fairfax County are well aware of the twits who make up the SB and what their end game is. My kids will *thankfully* be done with this school system if/when the equity fanatics get their way (I include you in that category). You, otoh, will probably spend your entire life gnashing your teeth about this non-issue that doesn't even affect you or your kids in any way.

And as for looking bad, you really have no idea how you and your equity-obsessed pals are regarded. You are roundly despised. Be well.

We'll be on the lookout for that groundswell of public support for your regressive agenda come November.

But, if you live in the Langley area you have already won the game of life: you have the best schools, clearly have a lot of money plus shelter clothing etc. But, you are still so insecure you have to attack and wish ill on people who disagree with you. “You are roundly despised?”

Langley is 53.5% White but you already knew that, oh I forgot, acceptable diversity is only black kids.

Oh, it's you again. We saw you on the Navy thread. There is more to diversity than race, and frankly, I value economic. diversity more than cultural diversity. I don't need my kids growing up around all wealthy families. They need to see that everyone's family is different, some people struggle, we help those people. I am happy to spend Fridays delivering food bags in my child's ES. None of that at Langley and it's feeders.

Isn't it great that you don't have to live where you don't want to live? My kids went to a diverse school --but I don't begrudge Langley their school. I don't know why others do. Blaming people for living in an area they prefer is just wrong.

I don't live in Dranesville, I live in a different district that has had boundary changes in the past. It is not unusual for communities to organize their neighborhoods during this process. Good grief, South Lakes PTSA organized to pick who they wanted during the 2008 boundary change. And, you begrudge people fighting to stay in their school? What is wrong with that?

Are you new here or just trolling? Posters like the PP have been attacking Langley for years and years and show no signs of stopping - talk about spewing hate. They have shown their true colors on this site and elsewhere; it's just naive to say they simply "disagree". They're welcome to disagree all they want. However, they consistently make garbage remarks about the Langley community - notice how many comments have been deleted?

DP. You just stated that you're happy where your kids go to school. Then why on earth are you attacking Langley (and its feeders)? Does it give you some kind of perverse pleasure? And wow, your martyr complex is something else.

Thank you. I'm just amazed at people who want to dictate how other communities and schools should be run, yet send their kids elsewhere. The very epitome of busybodies.

I 100% agree with you. The issue here is a certain subset of posters who see "Langley" and their claws come out. They absolutely want to stick it to this school, in whatever way they can. Meanwhile, their kids attend other schools. Imagine if they would simply pour their obsession into their own kids' schools.

what would be a better method to ensure all schools have equal rich kids and. poor kids?

Can't wait to hear the busing proposal.

PP here. No, bussing sucks and doesn't really work. Like I said, it starts with housing policies and zoning laws. Introduce more affordable housing into the "good" neighborhoods. Economically integrated neighborhoods will eventually lead to economically integrated schools. It will take a while, and the richy-riches will scream and yell about traffic and crime and property values and whatnot. But if we actually care about equity, that's the p

ath forward.

Too funny! The zoning for Great Falls was done in the early 70s. It is now mostly built out. How would you propose changing zoning and how would it work??

+1

No lie.

WTH are they gossiping about at that Langley PTA, such that you think only one person thinks you are insane, first PP?

I guarantee whomever you are accusing is not anywhere close to what you are gossiping about, is happily living their life, and doesn’t think about you, at all. So telling.
