People complaining about this clearly have little experience in MS. The 10/10 rule is about being able to clear the hall and not have kids walking around. This just isn’t a big deal, people. Your kid can go before school, during lunch, and after school. As the PP says, the trade offs are real. Other kids are in the bathroom using their phones, doing drugs, etc. If you think this is a serious issue for your kid, get a 504 that they can have unlimited trips to the bathroom. |
Most MCPS secondary schools have this rule. |
I don’t need to imagine it. I’m a teacher. I can’t go when needed. I have to go in between class periods. Plenty of people in industrial and retail workplaces deal with that. |
I can’t even use the restroom between classes. I have 4 minutes where I am responsible for managing the hallway in front of my room and physically setting up my classroom for my incoming class. I’m also supposed to be checking school email and answering phone calls. It’s ridiculous! |
That why I started wearing depends. It's taken my productivity to the next level. |
Thank god for period underwear’s invention so girls can work around this, not even kidding. My MS and HS had 3-minute passing periods and limited bathroom passes and few working stalls. I still have nightmares about waiting in bathroom lines. Most teachers allowed hall passes to be turned in for extra credit at the end of the semester. Did I go for the extra credit and get into an Ivy League school? Yes. Did I have more than one period accident and have to fake being sick at the nurse’s office so I could drive myself home and change? Also yes. It was such a relief to get to college and be able to excuse myself from even the smallest seminar if indeed to. I don’t have a ton of sympathy for boys in this situation because the physical and social consequences for them are completely different compared to girls. |
