“Driving 1000 miles to college, Venmo me!”

Anonymous
My cousin did this on IG recently while traveling for a bachelorette party. She's 28. "Buy the bride a drink!" and linked to her friend's Venmo

Entitlement is getting worse, just when I think it can’t. You may say So ignore it, but it says something about our society. This is crazy. (If you haven’t heard of it yet, Google image driving college Venmo me)

You sound old.

What’s your point? People get upset at beggars on street corners, others are bugged by car beggars

The irritability comes from being a boomer who knows they’ll be dying soon.

I'm Gen X. And your mug slinging comes from knowing people like me own three houses and your generation has no chance to. Sorry your student loan wasn't forgiven.

I’m Gen-Ex too and you’re gross. How is hoarding wealth not trashy? Go away!

I’m a Gen X and am seriously concerned for our young people not being able to live with the same quality of life many of them grew up with. We don’t own three homes - just one that we live in. I wish that for everyone of all ages - if home ownership is something they aspire to.

Also IMO, the student debt crisis is immoral. We should not be burdening young people with life long debts just to be able to get work that pays the bills and contributes to society.

That said, I am not a fan of asking random strangers for handouts. Sustainable living needs to be structural not random and opportunistic.

Likewise, I'm not a fan of people being homeless and hungry. They should eat and get an apartment. So dumb that they don't!

PP was obviously implying that he or she was worried about homelessness and structural inequalities but indulging random venmo or GFM requests is not going to help that …

Eh, I don't mind. Because I would never give them money! I just laugh at their chutzpah and go on my way.

This is ageist, and not something to be proud of.

Hope the bride saved some of the money to fund her "two years from now and hopefully with no kids" divorce.

+1 I’d roll my eyes at it but honestly would forget all about it 5 minutes later. No one is forcing me to give anything. Who cares? Why dwell on it?

I do. Our society is losing all sense of decorum. It's a sign of the downfall of the US. I mean seriously, the Roman Empire fell. Our time is coming and stuff like this represent the tiny cracks to our foundation.

Yes, the upper class hoarding all the wealth is a common cause of national collapse. We should be worried, and peacefully redistribute the wealth back where it belongs before it comes to violent methods.

There are examples of billionaires who should be giving back a lot more. (Not high incomes, billionaires). Russian oligarchs should have given back the money they stole from the former communist citizens, maybe they’d be more peaceful. The Ukrainian leaders were just as bad. Billionaires in this country pay about 1% in federal taxes so there’s a bit of hoarding there. Don’t worry, the odds of anyone here becoming a billionaire is slim to none.

There’s nothing to “admire” about beggars.

The cocaine you did in your 20's ate out your soul too... that say more about our society.

You are Gen Wolfs of Wall Street.

“Wolfs” is not a word.
