The irritability comes from being a boomer who knows they’ll be dying soon.

I'm Gen X. And your mug slinging comes from knowing people like me own three houses and your generation has no chance to. Sorry your student loan wasn't forgiven.

The cocaine you did in your 20's ate out your soul too... that say more about our society.

You are Gen Wolfs of Wall Street.

I was at Glacier NP earlier this summer and saw a brand new Lexus SUV with this on it. Essentially, it had their instagram and tik tok handle on it and their venmo, asking you to follow along on their road trip and venmo them to buy them a coffee. I hope no one did.

I do. Our society is losing all sense of decorum. It's a sign of the downfall of the US. I mean seriously, the Roman Empire fell. Our time is coming and stuff like this represent the tiny cracks to our foundation.

There have always been beggars? I wish we lived in a society that provided people enough that no felt the need to beg on roadsides but we don’t, so there will always be people with signs listing their reasons for why they are more specially deserving of your money than the other beggars (and you). As with the people who walk along metro cars with signs telling you about their disabilities or veteran status or young children at home, you give them money if you feel so inclined and ignore otherwise.

I don’t even pay strangers on go fund me requests let alone venmo. I donate to causes where dollars are accountable and the charities have high rating for making donations effective in helping intended recipients.

There are too many scams and it is not regulated/ moderated properly.

I would be very upset with our teen if she did this when she is off to college. We try to teach her to live within her means and choose colleges wisely so you can achieve your dreams without incurring life long debts.

I will buy her a solar operated coffee maker for college so she can make herself good coffee on long car rides: and not need to ask strangers for Star Bucks money.

I've seen this exactly never.

If you see this once, maybe twice, in your life, how much of a problem is it?

+1

Handouts, handouts, handouts. Over it.

Then you are either very dim, part of the problem, or likely both.

“My kid’s first concert — Cashapp me to buy her merch!”

Nauseating.

We attended a church where the pastor announced that Annabelle got into Princeton and then had a special collection. We found a new church.

I’m a Gen X and am seriously concerned for our young people not being able to live with the same quality of life many of them grew up with. We don’t own three homes - just one that we live in. I wish that for everyone of all ages - if home ownership is something they aspire to.

Also IMO, the student debt crisis is immoral. We should not be burdening young people with life long debts just to be able to get work that pays the bills and contributes to society.

That said, I am not a fan of asking random strangers for handouts. Sustainable living needs to be structural not random and opportunistic.
