Indiana family shares warning after 35-year-old mother dies from drinking too much water on vacation

My parent died from drinking too much water. Low sodium condition. He was old age and low weight, kept drinking lots of plain water with a low salt diet for decades. It messed up the brain and had urgent care episodes. Had medical intervention in the last years and rationed water drinking and added electrolytes. Too little too late.

This happened to a girl at my sons high school. She’d been drinking alcohol and was afraid she’d get caught so she drank an excessive amount of water.

There have been a number of these cases. I think I remember one was a bicycle police officer and one was a teenage football player doing training in August. People who get too dehydrated and then chug water trying to make up for it. It also happens with people trying to pass a drug test by drinkiijg lots of water to dilute the amount of drug that shows in the urine.

Yes, Jim McBride was the bicycle officer. He was a friend, and a good man. He was trying to do what was healthy and right, and it wound up killing him. It sucks. A lot.
