Potomac has gradually been getting better.
They are certainly a better program than Holy Child. I doubt it will ever reach the athletic status of visi, or SR or the Saints, but academically Potomac is a on different level. Always has been and prob will remain that way. Perhaps the school is starting to put an emphasis on athletics as their 2025 class is excellent. |
This could be true, but I think area privates will be getting better across the board in the near future just due to the growing number of girls playing lax. There does appear to be a lack of urgency at visi getting the lax program back on track. |
The visi lax transfer to Potomac had nothing to do with lacrosse. It was a social decision. |
| My DD (2028) is being courted by SR and HC for lax. Can we expect anything from Visi? Or is not the way they roll? |
| If you're not being offered $, you're not being courted. IYKYK... |
And a huge win for Potomac - socially AND athletically! |
It's the IYKYK-guy! Always ready to condescend without facts. Thinks his super cool acronym is worth equal weighting as actual evidence or experience. Special contributor. Private school application process for girls lax players is not D1 football recruiting with NIL deals. Come on IYKYK guy... |
| Do the top high schools give free tuition to recruits? |
| It’s definitely not the norm to move from a Catholic school to a full private and vice versa. However, the varsity girls lacrosse coach is excellent so if this child was looking to move and is a lacrosse player, sounds like she made a great choice. |
Your daughter can reach out to the coach at any school she's interested in attending. Coaches typically work with the admissions staff, but their sway depends on the school. Admissions is very competitive, so if she doesn't have good grades and test scores, lax won't help her at most schools, especially Visi where the coach is not a full time employee. |
There is no such thing as athletic money at the private high schools. |
Officially, no. |
There’s someone lurking the lacrosse threads insisting schools give money to girls lacrosse players even if they don’t have a financial need. I’d recommend not engaging with this person. |
No. But might help financial aid package. |

Maybe SJC gives money out but I doubt any of ther other programs mentioned above give money unless the family qualifies for it.
SJC is ruthless |
