Stone Ridge cares about athletics, Visi does not. It’s not the AD’s fault. The Head of school sets the culture.

Interesting….as a parent of an 8th grader who loves lacrosse, this is good to know. Where does Holy Child fit in?

I'm not even sure Holy Child even has a coach currently. They fired their last one a few months back due to the treatment of the girls and how she spoke to them.

It was one girl, who did not have the skills to be on any varsity team in the ISL and who was a toxic influence.

Ok so let me make sure I get what you are saying here correct. You are saying because it was only "one girl" it makes that type of treatment appropriate?

what exactly did the coach say or do to the girl?

She was probably expected her to come to practice (all of them), work hard and take feedback, but unfortunately, that is too much for some players and parents these days.

She didn't liked being coached, wouldn't put in the necessary work to be able to compete at this level, complained to her parents who are large donors, and essentially had her fired. It's my understanding that the rest of the team fully supported the coach and not this divisive student.

I’m sure you are also aware that this same coach had an entire club team that she coached leave partly because of this same behavior towards them as well as her lack of attendance. So really is it just the “one girl” or the coach?

No it was the one girl. She was only on the team because they didn't want to cut a senior and she would do things like invite the team to a party but exclude two or three, that sort of nonsense. And we know several players on the MCE 26 team and they seem to love playing for her.

Just as an FYI The current 2026 team is now her second team a couple years ago her entire 26 team left and now the same exact thing just happened this past season with the 2030 team she coaches.

Yes, I heard that too. And, of course, the director and that coach just blame the "crazy parents" once again. They should both be banned from coaching. If you look at TSJ website, it says she has "a keen sense of how to motivate and develop high school athletes." Why don't they verify the information they are being fed?

What the coach said or did to the girl/the team - was removed from this thread.

The real issue for this thread is what will Visitation do about it’s coaching situation? Sounds like nothing.

Yes. Is Bucky expected to return this spring?

Holy Child just announced they have a new varsity coach.

Visi better wake up. Families are giving hard looks at other schools because of the coaching situation there. They already lost one current player to Potomac; they will start driving incoming freshmen elsewhere.

This was a really good hire.

Do you know anything more about her? Just curious as my DD is looking at high schools…

Revolving door at Visi with coaches every couple years. Even with Maria Sparks coming in, guarantee in the next 2-3 years some parent complains about Maria and she gets fet up and leaves.

Maria Sparks is a good hire for Holy Child. The sophomore class got a lot of playing time their first year and the incoming freshman class is also very strong, thanks to the recruiting of the departed head coach. Holy Child should be competitive the next few years.

This is pretty shocking. A junior left Visi to go to Potomac!?! That’s unheard of - 1. she already spent two years at Visi. 2. the Catholic thing means not a lot of crossover between the schools. 3. Potomac is much more expensive than Visi. 4. Potomac isn’t a lacrosse powerhouse (although ‘25 class is strong). WTH? If I were a catholic school parent of a grade school girl this would really make me hesitant on Visi.
