My dad has T2 and uses a Dexcom (started on Libre). He was not managing it AT ALL and hadn't been taking bg readings and was just randomly giving himself insulin. We kind of strong armed him into getting one and it's been so much better for him. He actually understands what he should be doing and what his bs level means. He also has zero body awareness so he would go really low and not even know. Until he passed out. Honestly I would not have pushed for this, but one of my kids is T1 and uses a Dexcom so I knew it could help him. |

I wore one for 3 months to better understand how my body handles sugar. For instance coffee (I drink it with only milk) makes my sugar spike like crazy. Ice cream does not.
I learned how my body reacts to different foods and different times of day (everyone is different). I was able to really improve my rating and my vitals. Oddly enough the changes I made where not common modern day diet advice. I lost 20lbs in the process gave lowered my cholesterol, BP and A1c. |
There are a number of people with prediabetes. I think this is a good thing to monitor and understand that but his reaction to sugars. Perhaps they can and minimize the risk for being full on diabetic. |
