My Honda Pilot has been fairly reliable, BUT Honda dealer service can be a disaster. 2 out of 3 Honda dealers that I used regularly have been awful--suggesting unnecessary work, etc. I'm switching to Toyota in hopes of a better experience. |
| Subaru Forester. Our 2012 has needed almost no repairs though admittedly we haven't quite cracked the 100K mark yet. |
Oh, and I'm not nice to it either. Street parked, lots of city driving, I've been known to have a lead foot, drove for an embarassingly long time on what I eventually figured out was REALLY low oil, decent front end crash that it weathered really well, etc. |

Toyota/Lexus for sure
I had a bad experience with Acura (Honda) |
| Toyota 4runner. Will go 500,000 easy. Most proven engine and transmission on the market. |
| My Acura MDX is 17 years old and still kickin’! |
This. Foolishly sold my 1999 in 2015 with 295,000 miles Kept in touch with family I sold it to: 400,000 about a year ago. |
My BIL said sold his zero option 1991 Red Pontiac Sunbird (2 door, stick, manual windows etc.) to his fathers 24 year old neighbor back in 1997 with 200,000 miles on it. He drove it for work almost 40k a year. Around 2017 he was out there and the now 44 year old still had car with 500,000 still running fine but looking beat up. Last year he was out there and car out in driveway looking brand new. His son and his HS auto shop class fully restore it with almost 600,000 miles on odometer. Ironic since 1997 my BIL has had 4 new cars. Bottom line you never know. |
My cousin’s 2016 Pilot needs a new transmission at 125,000 miles. |
Op here. This is where I landed. |
That’s awesome. |
| the only car that was trouble for use was a jeep liberty. every other car has gone over 100k with little other than maintenance (suburban(2), navigator (2), explorer, mdx). |
Did you expect something different from bmw? BMW is and always will be a 50K car - meaning its trash thereafter. |
Our 2014 Subaru Forester was a crappy car. The sun visor broke within the first year, then a few years later, the airbag sensor on the passenger side broke. Around the 6th year, it had carburetor problems and ran rough. Finally, when it started to make loud noises when idling, we sold that thing at Carmax. I cannot recommend Subaru Forester. |
