Tourist submersible missing on visit to Titanic

Anonymous
I read about this and the first thing that came to mind… omg people pay $250k to go in a submarine?! You couldn’t pay me $250k to do that! They should be sent the bill for their rescue… they will.

Completely agree.

I mean - the obvious difference here is that the purpose of this sub’s mission is utterly frivolous vs refugees are seeking a better life? Or maybe you’re not talking about that, just stupid boaters

+1000

Taxpayers should not have to pay to rescue these fools.

Guys they’re dead, you can’t bill them

So funny suggesting how people should spend their money. Given they have seven ways to surface and the ocean is very big, they could be floating and not found yet.

Why can’t you bill their estate?

Wtf?
You could buy someone a house in many parts of the country. Or buy 4+ people an affordable car. This is ridiculous, paying 250k to possibly die while touring a ship lots of people died on.

+10000

It is a statement of excess and extreme privilege

And now the taxpayers must foot the bill for their rescue mission.

Deep ocean and deep space are the same. Not meant for humans.

Couldn’t agree more. And if they’re on the surface already just floating, waiting to be found, couldn’t one of them just… text?

Or the company that operates the excursions?

Yes that is how it works. Crab fishing is an extremely dangerous job and we don’t bill for Coast Guard rescues of boats that get in trouble so you can stuff your face on cab legs.

Well if we already know then I guess we don’t need to spend money looking for them.

How dare the Carpathia steam to the Titanic?

You sound like a bit from “Airplane.”

Same. And I sure as hell will never do it now! It is something I’d have considered at least.

^Oh. 250k.

I’m so sad for those people. Goodness.

Only 250 people have visited the resting place of Titanic since 1985. If I had the funds; I would gladly go.
