Many parts of Maryland are forgotten as well. |
I thought Maryland was only Potomac, Bethesda, and Chevy Chase with Rockville, Silver Spring, Hyattsville, and Mount Rainier on the periphery. Are you suggesting there's actually more to Maryland??? |
Nah. It’s Takoma Park, and places governed by Takoma Park. |
Don't forget Fort Meade ... but that's really all I can say about that. |
Are you suggesting a conspiracy theory? |
That's a meaningless stat when the vast majority of the other majority-black counties it's being compared to are in places like rural Mississippi. Also, PG is the poorest county in the DC metro area. |
+1 Absolutely this. |
Two of the wealthiest black communities in the US is not meaningless. It's a point of pride. |
It would be a point of pride if there was a measure of equity between PG County and its suburban counterparts. There is not. For example, I’ll PG’s per capita income is 61% of MoCo and 64% of Howard and ranks 14th out of the state’s 23 counties and Baltimore City. It lags behind every other county in the metro area. |
The income and educational achievement of adults is related to the $94,507 median household income. You should research the income of adults who attended those dismal schools. That would be an interesting query. Our circle of friends all send their children to private or attend a special program public that requires an application or lottery. My children who attend public school received proficient and distinguished scores on the 2022 state test mentioned in the article you referenced. I have no concerns with their school. |
