Going way back here:
Andy Gibb. Think it was 1988? I was in college and was shocked that one of my earliest teen idols/crushes had died and was so young. It was jarring to me and my first celeb death. |
| Cory Monteith. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy who overcame a troubled youth. It was very tragic that he relapsed and succumbed to his addiction which was formed during his impressionable adolescence. |
Also JFK Jr. I was only 10 but remember watching the footage of the water off of Martha’s Vineyard. |
| Harry Chapin |
George Michael was my first concert, first crush and the precedent for every gay crush the rest of my life. Loved him and I love this song with ZERO irony. I'm a huge dork... |
|
Kurt Cobain
Tim Russert George Harrison |
| James Gandolofini, because of his age and the way that he died, on vacation with his family in Italy, being found by his son. The deaths from drugs and addiction hit me less hard. |
|
George Harrison
Taylor Hawkins |
Same. I was a huge Bee Gees fan back in the day as a teenager, and thought of him practically as my own little brother since he was the Bee Gees' little brother. Such a shock, and I kept thinking about how his siblings and parents all must have been feeling. His death also got so much publicity at the time (around the fact that his drug use, while it didn't kill him, contributed to the damage which eventually did). Just a sad waste of potential. |
|
Heath Ledger made my mom really sad I think because he was so young.
Chadwick Boseman seemed like such a good guy and died so young, I was really upset about his death. |
| Raul Julia. It surprised me. |
Yes, Twitch for sure. What a shock. |
|
Ugh, Anthony Bourdain. Still hits so hard, get choked up just thinking about the terrible loss to the world.
RBG. So many mixed emotions. I was so angry when she died. |
I loved their music. |
The idea of Farrah Fawcett dying of colon cancer. |
