First record I ever bought with my $3.25 an hour job. I cashed my McDonalds check and took the bus from the suburbs to F street waxi maxi to buy the album. Proceeded to spend the entire weekend listening to it on repeat.

That one is the only one to hit hard. I still get choked up when purple rain comes on the car radio. My kids laugh at me. They have no clue.

This is so sweet.
I love how special that album was to you and that you have fond memories of Prince’s music.

Whitney Houston
Chris Cornell
Prince
David Bowie
Anthony Bourdain

Other than Whitney, who died a while back, it seemed like the world started to go to shit when Bowie and Prince died

Weirdly, Steven Hawking. I met him briefly when I was really little it sparked an interest in physics back when I thought I didn't have a "math brain." And he was so funny! I cried when he died.

I….am not sure they know. The pilot had spatial disorientation when he flew into a mountainside (instead of falling). I’m certainly no expert, but I’d think no one knew what was going on.

I hope.

I definitely understand your feelings about it, PP.

Michael Jackson

I had always felt so much sympathy for him. (He’d been through so much in his life, and I’d always believed he was such a tragically naive, but good person.)

Also, his music was the soundtrack of my youth.

When he died, it broke my damn heart. I randomly cried for days.

While not unexpected at his age, it hit me when Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones' drummer) died.

It will be even harder when Jagger or Richards go. Those guys always seem immortal especially because of their lifestyles yet they just keep on ... ticking! I was amazed to see Jagger run up and down the stage for hours at a concert despite being in his 70s.

The Stones have been a mainstay and backdrop for many decades now. Truly the soundtrack for generations of people.

When Charlie went it proved they are indeed mortal.

Luke Perry

Because it meant I was old

Suicides make me very sad. Robin Williams, Naomi Judd, Anthony Bourdain.

+1
The reports that came out suggested that they didn’t know they were flying into a cliff because of the fog. Hopefully they never knew what hit them.
