This is true. But I don't back into spaces if it would make people wait more than pulling into them. One of the most annoying behaviors of others is when they back into spaces and take forever to do it.

But it doesn't take any more time for someone to back into a space than it would take them to back out of it when they leave later; it's just a question of who else is there at the time they do the slightly slower maneuver.
