Has a link to that thread been posted? I'm curious! |
F no. Get your arse on a treadmill. |
I never lie about my income (400K plus HHI) and we are not the wealthy ones on our block. We are a double fed family. I just don’t think most posters are that far fetched, this forum just draws from a well off community.
Also, rich and famous people have down time too and many of them (not all) like normal crap just like the rest of us. There is this idea that people worth 30 Million would never post and fill their time more productively than most. I don’t know if they post here (suspect not) but I know at least three different people/couples with net worth above 50M they are as normal as anybody. |
Agreed, and I'd estimate that percentage as above 50%. For some reason this place attracts the worst, most crazy people in the world |
https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/20...rarchy-needs/620950/ It's deeper anxieties playing out in the form of financial anxiety, even if you're justifiably more financially secure than 90-95% of the country. However, I am someone who graduated college around the time of the 2009 recession and had just hit my professional stride when COVID-19 hit. I think people my age have a lot of trauma related to financial instability, whether it's real or feared. We always feel like we don't know when the other shoe is going to drop. |
You’re just envious bc I am the Princess of Wales. Simmer down. |
+1, Our HHI is 600K-700K and we are not even in DC, we are in Austin which is lower COL. I know multiple families in our neighborhood with $900K-$1.5M houses that have a HHI closer to $1M, if not above it. They still send their kids to the same public school where my kids study. They just bought early and their careers shot up, and felt no need to upgrade homes or send kids to private. The only reason I can estimate their HHI, because they work in my company and are at SVP level vs me and my DH at mid-management director level. They are just normal people, and I run into them sometimes buying Panera Tuesday bagel special. I don't think a lot of posters are that far fetched. If we were making this income just a few years earlier and avoided some stupid financial mistakes, we would also be on a different trajectory net worth wise. |
Can’t you ask people in your circle these things? |
I’m worth a lot (more than ($15 million)); bored. In process of retiring from 22 year career… So that’s why I’m here. |
Not true. All these people could post a snip-it of their mint, personal capital etc accounts - that'd shut you up and it wouldn't even be the full picture. |
NP. Great. Shut us up by posting those snippets. I wanna see. |
Fine. Turned 48 earlier this year. Salary below SSWB (like 5-figures lower). Here are my retirement/investment accounts (down from a peak of $3.25M at the start of 2022) : Personal Capital snippet (as of this morning) FWIW, it's not easy to attach an image here, so I'm using Google Drive. Spouse (also turning 48) currently earns about $70K+ more but doesn't have as much already saved for retirement. So, that's sub-$350K HHI. Meh 40-year-old SFH (bought for $500K, recently assessed by locality at $660K, still owe slightly more than half of assessed). |
But that was common knowledge? Hello Hulk Hogan et al |
Oyy Ramit!! Kee haal hai? |
