just imagine that all of a sudden people with dwarfism were clamoring to be heard

no one hates them - we love them!

but soon you have people with dwarfism driving Dodge Rams in commercials... people with dwarfism showing off high heels... people with dwarfism mowing the lawn....

and after a while even very normal, well meaning people without dwarfism would be sort of like.... enough

I don’t understand.could you pls explain what this means? Also, what kind of advertising deal should Dylan have without ppl complaining? It’s like you wrote a paragraph of text but didn’t answer.

I don’t think this question matters or has an answer

Advertising deals that get consumers MORE interested in buying the product are good

Those that don’t are bad

By trial and error an equilibrium will be found

No one is owed advertising deals

So you think it's find that Dylan had a Bud Lite and a sports bra deal?

I don't buy either and couldn't care less

I don't care if Dylan's is the only face they ever use, and I couldn't care if they vow never to use Dylan again

that said, if this happened with some product I buy a lot of I might consider competitors more....

but I still wouldn't object out loud, because WTF do I care

if their other customers are all more enlightened than me and buy more as a result, yay for their advertising team

So what you're saying is that you don't want trans women advertising products you use.

Yeah it's fine. Why wouldn't it be? These brands are allowed to make deals with whoever they want. I see no reason why trans people shouldn't be included.

not exactly

I'm sort of repelled by Dylan's appearance and affect specifically

and if an advertiser uses a spokesperson I find sort of repellent then I interpret it as an effort to jam a message down my throat, which I don't want to reward

conversely, if an advertiser always used hot college [___] with no connection to their actual product, I'd be put off by that too

I would find it patronizing

sex sells but please be a little subtle so I'm not self-conscious about it

But advertisers target different demographics all the time? This is what I don’t understand. Companies market with a variety of influencers trying to cover all market segments. Dylan isn’t an influencer you would likely follow so those ads weren’t being targeted to you. There are tons of influencers out there that have totally different demographic of followers. If I don’t like stupid rednecks, I don’t boycott a brand for advertising to them. The company wants to maximize sales.

Agree! They are free to do that

If I see 100 ads for something and one of them weirds me out, I probably don’t care

If they advertise rarely and then only do things that weird me out, that’s different

I think most boycotts are pretty stupid

I hope to see an ad featuring a Black trans lesbian couple just to own the cons.

+1 Bud Light probably sent beers to hundreds of other people just like this.

Since when does every dumbass in the country have to approve of every commercial on TV? If your biggest problem is being offended by a joke beer commercial, you have a very privileged life.

That’s literally what this is. There’s a single ad not targeted at men full of eagles, women in bikinis, etc and they act like this is some sort of hate crime against them. They’re being oppressed by Dylan. She’s literally preventing them from enjoying their crappy beer.
