I’m conservative but think woman should have the right to an abortion up to a certain point in their pregnancy. Not sure what point that is but certainly not on the delivery room table. |
+1. Trump is going to get crushed. |
How does this ruling pollute the entire obstetrics system? Please be specific. Are you not able to get an abortion now? The legal issue is now in the states hands where it should have been from the beginning as there is nothing in the Constitution about abortion. So either live in a state where it’s legal, I’m sure California or NY would love to have you, or pass a new constitutional amendment making it legal. |
Well that was the compromise embedded in Roe - up to fetal viability, around 24-26 weeks. Republicans and FedSoc and all the aligned Christian groups scrapped Roe because they want something more restrictive than 24-26 weeks. Florida is set to put it at 6 weeks, which is pretty much impossible to manage for most women. Lots of dead moms in Florida’s future because Republicans are animals. |
I think 15-18 weeks is probably in the right range but I really don’t know. 6 weeks seems to early and 24-26 weeks seem to late. What do most European countries have? |
Have you ever had to birth a baby? Tried to get pregnant and struggled? Had a miscarriage? A preemie? An emergency c section? An ectopic pregnancy? Severe fetal abnormality? Dozens of other issues? I doubt you have even menstruated. Do you want your ob worried about legal problems instead of about getting you the highest standard is care when dealing with all the issues? The correct answer is no. |
European countries do somewhere between 12-24 weeks for “no excuse” abortion. HOWEVER. They allow unrestricted abortion for rape, incest, physical health of mother (miscarriage, ectopic), mental health of mother, or fetal abnormalities. Vast majority of Republican bills are not making exceptions for rape, incest, miscarriage, etc. They are saying “It’s god’s will” for a woman to be forced to carry her rapist’s baby. So we can’t compare to Europe. Why? Because Republicans are over reaching yet again. Meanwhile women will die. |
The number of abortions performed after 20 weeks is minimal. You really think a woman would carry a pregnancy that long and then decide to abort if it wasn't accompanied by some fetal abnormality? https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2019/04/raw-data-abortions-by-week-of-pregnancy/ ![]() |
So who will you vote for in the Republican primary? |

Until the forced birthers blew it up, Europe had the same late term abortion rules as we did - if you really need it. No one is changing their mind about pregnancy at 24 weeks. ALL abortions later than 21 weeks accounted for 1% of all pregnancies and a solid majority of the ones who “waited” until their second trimester did so because forced birthers created a situation in which they had to wait (waiting periods, clinic scarcity, saving up the money for later and more expensive abortions, saving transit and hotel costs). Forced birthers are morons. Abortions will never disappear, they’re just a lot less safe and women who are trying to have a child are less safe now too. Wait to go, dummies. |
+1 JFC maga shows themselves to be stupid and fact resistant. |
Sorry but the people in your state that dont want to ship off to NY or California to carry a pregnancy and deliver a baby want their obstetrics systems back to the way they were and will vote accordingly. Too bad. |
You avoid all those legal issues if you just go to a state where abortion is legal. You shouldn’t have to drive/fly very far. Otherwise amend the constitution or next time you decide to have unprotected sex, think twice. |
You are trying so so hard to make that be the issue but the issue is overturning roe. You made your bed now lie in it. Women want the protections of roe back for themselves and for their daughters and will vote to get them. |
