dp I'm not going to NOT go just because it is a nice place and everyone else has gone. There is a reason why and I want to see it! |
OK, that’s fine. But let’s not include it on a thread of off the beaten path destinations. Let’s include it on a thread of vastly overrated destinations ruined by mass tourism. |
We loved Sri Lanka. I don't think that's off the beaten path, though. We were there maybe four years ago and it seems to have boiled up a bit since then. |
LOL'ing at Croatia and Portugal. My list would include Slovakia, Romania, Egypt |
Slovenia was such a wonderful surprise! We did a trip to Hungary to visit DH's relatives and decided to tack on Slovenia at the last minute and were so glad we did.
I feel like Asia in general - outside of Tokyo maybe - is off the beaten path for many Americans and people are absolutely missing out! South Korea and Thailand were both awesome. |
Egypt? LOL |
+1 We love Taiwan. Amazing food, people and beautiful places to explore. My husband has family there so we have visited twice but we don't just visit family when we go and have probably explored more than family that lives there. Alishan NP is amazing. |
How's the view up on your high horse? People not going to Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan are not doing so out of closemindedness. wtf. |
Not all of these meet the definition of country. |
Go to both. |
Belize |
This thread could have been so fun...sigh... |
Yes, Vietnam? Come on folks, let's come up with some more unique places than that... I really liked Yunnan, China. Beautiful geography and a couple very cute cities. |
Panama
Guatemala |
Laos and Cambodia. Both feel like traveling back in time and the pace is slower than Vietnam. |
