War on Women

I wonder if forced birthers who consider themselves “moderate” or “kind” have read the posts by their like minded friends and realized what insanity their position actually is.

This is such a good start.

And don’t give me what about rape and incest? Abortions only happen for less than 2% of all abortions. Most are done purely for the convenience of mom!

PP here. You cannot edit a post. What I, who is a woman, meant is that less than 2% of abortions are performed for rape and incest. Most people do not have an issue with that procedure for rape or incest or the health of the mother. Maybe women keep their legs closed if they don’t want to get pregnant or it would be an inconvenience.

So yes if the death penalty was on the table for anyone who has an abortion or performs one, maybe it would slow down the Millions performed yearly.

No one is forcing you to give birth.

I and my daughters believe this way!

2 percent is a lot. That is 1 in 50 procedures and when it is your loved one impregnated by a rapist it is everything.

What a woman does in thus situation or any other reproductive situation is none of your or your daughter's business. I would never tell your daughters what to do. That is incredibly disrespectful. And you and they most certainly will not be telling mine why they can and can not do.

And many carry on about no exceptions for rape and incest. Many places are very much trying to force women to give birth.

More please. This message is crucial. We cannot let people continue in the misapprehension that conservatives are just conflicted about the value of fetal life. You want women to die, even if you kill them yourself. I believe you speak for many in the GOP, and the rest of the country deserves to know this.

Weird…no responses from the alleged “moderate” republicans here? This is your team folks…

NP. Yes, there is a war on women now. It is coming from the left as well as the right, though I would say the right is substantially more dangerous overall. But the far-left and the far-right are united in their desire to subjugate and control women’s bodies, lives, spaces, and progress.

The Republicans who are advocating for this are just openly telling you their eventual goal, which is a Handsmaid-esque patriarchal dystopia. And yes, moderate Republicans like Collins are to blame, but it’s not like women have a safe home with the current Democrats either.

Susan Faludi described historical periods of progress for women as always followed by a sharp and immediate backlash. We are in that backlash.

Women who seek abortion in South Carolina could face death penalty
House Bill 3549 is an amendment to the South Carolina Prenatal Equal Protection Act of 2023 and would define "person" to include an unborn child at any stage of development. This would ensure that an unborn child who is a "victim of homicide" or "victim of assault" is given the same protections under state laws -- including, up to the death penalty.
Can this pass? A resounding yes. Can it be struck down not so sure?

Funny.

When I saw the thread's title I assumed it was about politicians pretending men can become women at will -- hence the end of Women's Rights.

But, no, let's talk about how to end the lives of female babies with impunity...how truly progressive of us.

Hi you forgot to mention the lives of former female babies (now girls and women) who do not wish to donate their bodies to gestate an unwanted pregnancy. Why is that?

Wait, now you believe, like fundamentalist Christians do, that women have no role in getting pregnant? We're all like Virgin Mary? 😀😀

You are the problem. Literally any of y’all who insist that both sides are equally bad WHEN THE GOP IS ADVOCATING THE DEATH PENALTY FOR MISCARRIAGES is the problem. Hi. It’s you. You’re the problem.

You and your daughters?! I and my daughter believe that no woman was put on this earth to be a broodmare and every woman should have the freedom to choose whether she wants to have a child. You don't get to make choices for anyone other than yourself.

Birthrates are down. We need future cheap laborers. Women ought to stop outshining men in college and go back to being fruitful & multiplying.

That is fine for you and your daughters. I am glad the US provides the freedom for everyone to live their lives under the moral and religious code they favor, which means you don't get to decide this for me or my family.

As a childfree by choice, mentally ill, lower income woman, these patterns really frighten me. I need to schedule a ligation because if I were ever in a position where I couldn't abort a pregnancy, I would seriously consider unaliving myself. Some of us NEED to be childfree for our health and sanity.

No, it's not just irresponsible sorority girls who might need abortions. Rape is a constant threat in women's lives. What's wrong with some of the posters here?

I'm very sad for our country and sad that it's harder and harder to look away from politics (which I've had to do for the past few years because I have been struggling to get by and to stabilize my mental health).

The GOP needs to stay out of this issue entirely. Carry your pregnancy in a reproductive refuge if possible. A blue state where yo can get the best care.
