I don’t remember so many teen boys with curly hair

My son has his dads hair — his dad has always clipped it very short and won’t use any product. My son leaves it fairly long and he was actually pretty infamous for his big hair at his school until he recently cut it back a bit. His sisters and I try to educate him on products but it’s an uphill battle. He just isn’t k terrier in putting in the time on curl maintenance like his sisters so he has a lot more frizz. At least I’ve convinced him to take a couple extra minutes for conditioner.

Another theory here, is that since it’s more stylish now, people embrace it and use hair product to emphasize and style curly hair instead of hair products to straighten hair as much as possible.

This.

This is a weird thing to say. As someone who lived in the Middle East there are more Europeans with curly hair than Middle Easterners. Iowa has no particular shortage of people with curly hair.

Liberal Media. 😂😂😂😂
What do you mean “blame”
Their curly hair is beautiful natural or not. One Race or the other. Natural of self expression.
Fool is right.

Lol, fr?

I saw a video (promo from the salon, I think) of a couple of young guys getting $295 “curl enhancement treatments.”

The comments were all some variation of “Dudes just paid $300 for a PERM? Bet their grandmas would have whipped out the Ogilvy and done it for free!”

But, yeah the messy mop head is all the rage at my sons’ high school.

+1 Same with my 16 y/o. Straight blonde thick hair and fusses with it to get that wavy/curly look.

It's a cute look but I would not want him to get a perm, which he has mentioned briefly a few times.

They all want to look like Patrick Mahomes. That’s the latest trend.

It’s called tik tok hair. It’s a thing.

Wavy hair is easy to coax into curls with the right hair products. Hair products are way better now than in the 90s and 00s.

Also lots of boys are getting perms. It’s a trend that started with the k pop stars.

According to my DS, it's called having the flow. He showed me entire social media accounts dedicated to obtaining and maintaining the perfect flow.

To be clear this is messy straight hair not curly hair.

So many of his friends also had straight hair that turned curly. My 13 year old son lives his hair and said he hopes it doesn’t turn curly. Did I just not notice it in high school all the boys with curly hair?

Some have gotten perms (I know several) to get that curly mop of hair that they're all sporting. Not a fan. But it's better than the mullets boys sported in my HS days. So there's that.

Mullets are back too. Tons of permed mullets.

I got a perm once. Never again.

The only guy I knew who's straight hair became curly had lost all of it in chemo, and it grew back curly, but then it eventually went back to his usual straight hair.

Puberty can change the texture of hair. My son had that silky smooth pale blonde hair and puberty it went curly/wavy and dark blonde. My youngest’s hair is changing like crazy, it doesn’t know which way to go and my older daughter never had any changes, her hair is perfect.
