My high school son has a full head of curls - Irish and Scottish heritage. His hair is truly gorgeous. I guess he got lucky that it is trendy! It was wavy as a boy, but turned curly as a teen. |
+1 my sons hair went from bone straight to curly. We need curl creams to tame it. He wears it long. |
We are Hispanic, and our kids have curly hair. I think it’s maybe more noticeable now because boys are letting their hair grow longer.
On the other hand, my nephew has stick straight hair and started perming it five or six years ago. I would say this trend has been around for a while and maybe only noticeable when your kids grow into it. |
30-something year old woman whose hair went from straight-ish to very, very curly in puberty: your son needs to learn styling and product techniques so his hair isn't frizzy/puffy. He should be glazing a bit of gel over wet hair, and don't let him tousle with a normal terrycloth towel; he should be gently scrunching or patting (depending on hair length) with a microfiber towel. |
There are a lot more people running around with black in them, fwiw. My kids are inconegros. You wouldn't know it but I'm black. |
My son's hair has always been long (as long as shoulder length). It is very fine, soft, and had a slight wavy when it was humid out (similar to my hair texture). He has hit puberty and his hair has spiral curls! Like, curls that spring up and are very defined. Gorgeous. He loves the curly hair and I love that it now looks much thicker than it did when he was younger. |
There is a lot more race mixing now plus curly hair is a dominant gene |
Did you grow up in Iowa and now you are in DC around people more likely to have curly hair (jews, middle easterners, etc)? |
It’s so funny bc the teen girls blow dry their hair straight and the boys are letting their curls flow. |
Curls are in! Curly hair tiktok is great. I bet the boys have picked up on that, and are watching some CurlTok! |
It’s a fad. Their hair isn’t really curly and they will grow out of this stage. I blame it on liberal media.
You will see these boys in college and they will be totally straight. |
Okay fool |
Curly hair is present in all races. Among those of European descent, 40% have wavy hair and 15% have curly hair. With the products/cuts available today, many people can present with curly hair if they want. |
Lol, fr? |
DS uses Fructis sleek and shine leave in conditioning creme (he tried gel and didn’t like the stiff texture it left) - he scrunches it into wet hair (he doesn’t towel his hair at all). It is still very bushy and frizzy. I’d appreciate any tips you have. |
